Does anyone know if Alamo authorizes a security deposit, as well as your car rental price, when you pick up a vehicle at the Orlando airport?

If your paying with a Debit Card, once you make your reservation it will hold that $. If that is what your asking. If you use a CC it won't be charged till after your rental is complete unless you already paid upfront.

So they charge nothing until you return the car if paying by credit? That is kind of what I was wondering.

We just rented from them in January. We used the Alamo Insiders program and provided the CC info in advance. We swiped the CC at the kiosk when we picked up the car. Nothing was charged to the CC until the day after we returned the car.

Did you find using the kiosk easier? Did you select your car first or after? Sorry for the questions. We just want to streamline our van pick up when we get there. We registered for Insiders and I believe we entered our card number already.

The kiosk was very easy. You just go downstairs to the car rental area on the first floor of the terminal. The kiosks are near where you would enter the line for the counter. Just swipe the CC you used on the reservation, or enter your confirmatin #. Follow the directions on the screen and a receipt will print (takes about 2 minutes max). Walk over to the garage and follow the signs to Alamo, then find the aisle for the size car you reserved. You pick any vehicle in the aisle. Make note of any damage to the vehicle. Drive toward the exit and present the receipt you just printed, along with your driver's license to the attendant. Alamo Insiders get their spouse as add'l driver for free, so give both DL's to the attendant. Tell the attendant about any damage to the vehicle and they will note it on the account.

We were surprised to be driving out of the airport garage about 30 minutes after landing, including a bathroom stop and picking up two checked bags.

Yes, Alamo is great and with the insider pass you bypass the counters and hit the kiosk and boom go to the garage and select "any" vehicle in that row. Sometimes you will be surprised what is sitting in that row.

I know that when we used them last Sept. there was a 7 passenger new Toyota Sienna that I wanted to take but the keys were missing. :( So we just went with the Chrysler. Love the ease of being able to select your own vehicle and not be provided one.

What do you mean?

If your talking about when you make your reservations and use coupons then you will be fine when going to the kiosk.

We used our coupon codes on reservation so they are already included in our quote. We will take the entertainment card to 'prove' our discount at checkout.

that's exactly what i meant. last time i rented from alamo few years ago @ MCO it was indicated i had to go to counter. I called & was told it was because of using a coupon so i cancelled & switched to National for future reservations

That's funny because I had the same message on a National reservation when I tried to use a coupon! Normally it says "Emerald Aisle" but with the coupon it said "Counter" so I cancelled the reservation. The coupon was for 20% off when using a visa card, and you had to print the coupon and be prepared to present it. For a previous rental with National, I have used the Entertainment book coupon and just presented it at the exit booth.

With this last rental at Alamo I used a coupon code for $40 off, but it was an ecoupon, and I didn't have to present it to anybody or go to the counter.

I think it just depends on what kind of coupon you use.

or how the computer system is leaning on any given day:upsidedow

mr is ExA (at least until he gets bumped back end of month due to not meeting quota;)) and we've never had to show any coupons @ the gate...even if using those of dubious origin i've found via google:confused3
