Has anyone successfully challenged Alamo or National about theses new fees being added to your existing reservations?

I have an Alamo booking and upon reviewing it I can't see any change.
Is it for all bookings?
Are these changes only discovered after the vehicle is picked up ?

They have begun to add a "Landlord Concession Fee" to the "additional charges". That is bullcrap. I have my original confirmation printed out and that fee IS NOT on there and I am going to pitch a fit if they try to charge me that. I pulled up my ressie on the National website and sure enough...that $20 something fee was on there. My original rental charge is $176 and now they are trying to SCAM by charging that fee and jacking my rate to $198.

CHECK YOUR RESERVATION AND MAKE SURE YOU PRINT THE CONFIRMATION AND TAKE THAT WITH YOU IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE CHARGED THAT FEE!!!

Someone posted about this yesterday. The rental confirmations all refer to the terms and conditions, which state clearly that any externally imposed fees will be passed along to the customer. It's pretty standard practice in the industry. All they're guaranteeing you is the rental fee itself -- for anything that outside entities (the airport, the state government, etc.) impose, you'd have to take that up with the outside entity.

That's right. There's not much that can be done about it.

Here is what my confirmation says:
Total may vary slightly at time of rental based on the election of prepaid gas, optional coverage items or changes in taxes, surcharges and fees.

I've spent too much time and effort planning this trip to worry about $20.

Is this to all reservations? Or just at the Car Care Center and the Dolphin?

I believe the fee is imposed by WDW, so only affects WDW pickups, but don't quote me on that. (Memory is the first thing to go, y'know...)

I have a reservation from Sanford Airport to the Dolphin for 1 day (just to get us to BWV). There is NO fee on that reservation.

We are picking up a car at the Car Care Center at the end of our Disney stay to head to Cocoa Beach. The fee IS on that reservation.

It is not on my other reservation that is Sanford to Sanford.

So, it appears to be pickups at Disney.

Given that there is a correlation between folks using rental cars to go off-property and thereby redirect revenues from Disney's restaurants and shops to those of other companies, it sure makes a lot of sense that Disney would seek ways to make doing so less attractive to guests.

Well, if I'm paying $47 for a rental car, picked up at CCC, and returning it the following day at Tampa Intl., I'm not going to be happy about an addtl. $20 fee on there!!! If that's the case, then I'll cancel that reservation and make a new one for pick up at the Dolphin.

I just checked on my reservation and it's showing a $5.30 landlord charge. So, I went checked to see what the difference would be if I picked the car up at the Dolphin...same charge is applied there also. It looks like the charge differs according to the length of time of rental.
I guess an extra $5 is no biggie.

I posted about this 2 days ago: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1028805

The landlord/hotel concession fee is a percentage of your subtotal - which works out to about 10% for pick-ups from the Dolphin and a tad more from the CCC. If your rental begins at MCO you're already paying the 9.8% airport concession fee.

bicker,

I believe you hit the nail on the head!

I probably used to know that... but I've forgotten...

I just check my alamo & national rentals from mco and they remain unchanged. mky :simba:

The airport concession fees are unchanged. It's the ADDITION of concession fees for Alamo/National rentals that begin at the Dolphin or WDW Car Care Center that are new.
