Aladdin's final performance on January 10, 2016

Will the Frozen cast be non union? It seems like large companies prefer to get away from the higher costs of union labor. Just wondering if that may also factor into the equation.

I think it has to do with the Hyperion theater that the performers need to be unionized. In DCA the Five & Dime performers are unionized as well. As are the Disneyland Band in DL. I don't know the historical reasoning for which groups are unionized though. But hopefully the Aladdin cast can move into Frozen and not have the same issue the Disneyland Band did: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/band-656661-disneyland-musicians.html

I agree with GatorChris my son would flip if I made him see a Frozen show. My daughter is older now (11) and is ok with it, but he (8) just really doesn't like it (probably because sister watched it non stop there for a while). Wish they did something other than Frozen. Frozen is everywhere now. A Lilo and Stitch would be much more fun ;)

I adore the Aladdin show and will be sad to see it go.

I even understand wanting to keep Frozen front & center with the new movie coming along soon, but, really isn't it already front & center at both California parks?!?! Please tell me that they will at least do away with the horrid Sing-a-long and return the theater back to the Muppets! And bring Belle & Rapunzel back to the Fantasyland shows.

AK used to have an AMAZING Tarzan Rocks show that kept everyone in my family on the edge of their sets for the entire show ~ and this is when the theater was open air and HOT. They replaced the show with a wonderful Finding Nemo production and renovated the theater so it has better seating, walls and Air Conditioning now :) There's Finding Dory coming out soon ~ why not use that as inspiration for a new show? Or ANY other one of the many fabulous disney movie that exist?!?

I am excited about this new Frozen musical, clearly placing me in the minority.
I'm also a fan of Robert Lopez's songwriting for Avenue Q and Book of Mormon.

Maybe the whole Hollywood area should just be re-done as Arendale??? Or however you spell it! I joke of course, but it seems as if that might be happening no?

Although I love the Frozen movie, I am truly tired of it now. Everything in the parks is geared toward Frozen, you just can't escape it. Aladdin is such a good show, and the genie was the best. I agree there are other movies that could have replaced it. Why don't we just call DCA, Disney's Frozen Adventure. I am heading over to the park in a little while, so I can see Aladdin. So sad.:sad: Here's hoping Disney changes their mind on this one.:worried:

Super bummed about this news. I have seen Aladdin once, but now it will DEFINITELY be on our must-do list for our weekend in December.

OK, my daughter and I produce shows, so I'm coming from a different angle with my comments, but honestly? Aladdin has been running for years now and it will be NICE to have something new to attract the crowds. If Disney stages Frozen with the same attention to detail it brings to all its other major musical productions (I've seen Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, and the Lion King on Broadway and/or in London and loved them all), it could and should be spectacular. Why not give something new a chance? Trust me, Frozen has amazing stage potential and it won't be just for the kiddies. Breathe, people, breathe!

It really does seem that Disney is trying to turn Hollywood Land -- a land that had so much potential, and in recent years has been a nice complement/'neighbor' to Buena Vista Street -- into a Frozen land. What's next? Tower of Frozen Terror?

It's not even that I think the Frozen musical would be bad. I'm sure it will be entertaining. The problem is that I am already tired of Frozen. I was tired of Frozen one year ago, so you can imagine how I feel one year later. When I feel that something has reached its oversaturation point, I am turned off from wanting to see it. I won't have any desire to see the show when it debuts, if all of this Frozen business keeps up at this level.

There is a new "Toy Story" movie coming out in 2017. "Finding Dory" is coming. I would rather see either of those gain an increased presence in the parks (inserting Nemo into the Subs was kind of silly) over the next year or two than to see one more Frozen thing pop up.

Let's run down the list of what we have:

-- The sing-along in HL.

-- The meet and greet in HL.

-- Olaf's Snow Fest, which is coming back at some point in the near future (not sure exactly when).

-- Freeze the Night, which may or may not be back.

-- Frozen in the Storybook Land Canal Boat ride (actually, that is one of the places where I think it works best).

-- The Frozen show at the Royal Theater in FL.

-- Frozen floats in assorted parades.

-- The Anna & Elsa boutique in Downtown Disney.

-- Olaf's Frozen Ice Rink in DTD (which I'm sure will be back for the holiday season).

-- Frozen segments and themes in fireworks and World of Color.

Did I leave anything out?

And now... this show coming to the Hyperion. If anyone thinks that there is not enough Frozen at Disneyland Resort, then they haven't been paying attention. There is plenty of it all around!

I went into Target to get some headphones earlier this year -- and there was an Olaf knick knack in the headphone section!

I was in the 99 Cents Only store yesterday, and over the loud speaker someone came on to tell us about having a Frozen-themed party, and that certain supplies could be found in the store (no one seemed to care).

There is more than enough Frozen everywhere. It has definitely reached the point of oversaturation.

Most of the comments under the Parks Blog and on the Parks Blog Facebook page are not in favor of this new musical. There was even a CM from DLR who spoke up and wrote about how she is not thrilled with this news.

While I am sad to see Aladdin go, I am happy that something new is coming to California Adventure. That park is still in desperate need of upgrades (don't even get me started on how out of place Bugs Land is) --- so if this is the first step of minor changes, then I won't judge until I see the show. I'm certain that it'll be wonderful and many guests will enjoy it for years to come.

I guess I can't judge something until i see it?

Oh, that's right! I totally forgot!

This Aladdin thing is yet another thing to write in and complain about - https://disneyland.disney.go.com/help/email/.

Aladdin was supposed to be gone years ago -- and a Toy Story Musical was going to replace it -- but, presumably due to the backlash and wave of complaints, Aladdin stayed and the TS musical never happened.

ETA: Some people say that the Toy Story Musical didn't happen because it got bad reviews on the DCL, but others say it was due to backlash and complaints from the public. Maybe it was both things?
Thanks for this. I will definitely complain...

As many have pointed out, it's not that Aladdin is going (though that is sad) it's that it's yet another Frozen thing. Disney has A LOT of wonderful movies that could have fabulous live shows. Instead of doing one of those they do more Frozen. I have no doubt what they do will be spectacular. I just question why Frozen of all movies?

I agree. I know I'm in the minority, but I'm excited about this. I think there's so much potential for a great stage show and I'm really curious about how the property is transitioned from film to theater.

I think the main reason people hate to see it go is because of the replacement. If it where Tangled or the Lion King people would be sad, but say I can life with it. But now it's Frozen and people get mad :)

Maybe it's good news for Muppet Lovers :)

I am also hoping Muppets 4D returns - or - even better - an updated Muppets attraction film!

I am not picking up on anyone judging the show itself or the content of it -- if no one has seen it, no one can speak to the quality of the show itself.

It has been said earlier in this thread that the main thing we are annoyed about -- aside from the fact that Aladdin is a fantastic show that we hate to lose -- is that Frozen is omnipresent. In other words it's not only the fact that Aladdin is being replaced that is troublesome. It's the fact that it is being replaced with something that (as you can see from most of the comments here, and on the Parks Blog page, and on the Parks Blog Facebook page) people are already tired of. That's the issue. There is already too much Frozen everywhere, including at Disneyland Resort, and people are getting tired of it. I don't think anyone doubts that the show itself would be good. It's just that there is too much Frozen everywhere, and Disney (as well as Pixar) has so many other good stories and great characters that could be showcased.

NNNNOOOOOO!!!! How could they do this???? It's the best... I was already upset that they replaced the Muppets 3D Vision with Frozen but now this... I know I'm probably one of the few that enjoyed the Muppets still, but I love them. But this is so much worse.... Me & DD absolutely love this musical & always see it. I'm not even a Frozen fan... Such a disappointment...
