Aladdin's final performance on January 10, 2016

Wow- this makes me incredibly sad! I think Aladdin is such a spectacular show. I am so surprised that they are replacing it considering that the movie is just getting released from the vault and will have a renewed interest. I am sure that a lot of kids will fall in love with this movie for the first time this year, whereas a lot of people (myself included) are all Frozen-ed out. So disappointing. At least I know to make it a point to see this show one last time during our upcoming trip.

Haven't you heard? Mickey and the Magical Map will be replaced in early 2016 with a new original stage production- Darth Vader vs. Kylo Ren: A Lightsaber Musical Extravaganza

:lmao::lmao: Someone at Disney probably just saw your post and is going to say to his Disney Parks co-workers, "This is what the fans want! They want a Star Wars Musical!"

The sky is the limit! Choreography with light sabers, ballads, a huge closing number with Storm Troopers doing the can-can, and narrated by Yoda with a special guest appearance by Olaf and featuring Captain America...Can't. Miss.

Ok, so now I have to see Aladdin in October before it's gone. As sad as I am to see it go, at least it's not the Toy Story musical that was once proposed to take over. I know a lot of people are sick of Frozen, but I think it's got a lot more potential to be an entertaining theater show than Toy Story would have.

Yes, Olaf has to make an appearance in everything.

And Ewoks too! Ewoks bunny-hopping around the stage!

Definitely going to write to Disney about this. Aladdin is one of my favorite Disney movies and my favorite thing to do in DCA. I've seen the show over 20 times since I discovered it (just this past November) and it never gets old.

I think if it were a different movie replacing it I'd feel a little better. But more Frozen is just making me mad.

And in other news, Mickey's Fun Wheel will be rethemed to Olaf's Fun Wheel, the Yeti will be replaced by Angry Elsa, Tom Sawyer's Island will become the kingdom of Arendelle, and since they still can't figure out what to do with Tomorrowland, Captain EO is returning yet again.

Soon they'll merge the two and make the "Olok".

:lmao: Jar Jar Olaf.... Olaf the Hutt... Darth Olaf...

:lmao::lmao::lmao: An Olaf's Fun Wheel doesn't sound too out of the realm of possibility. :lmao:

I mean... the really obvious place for Frozen to end up would be the Matterhorn, but that is basically sacred territory and I don't think the Frozen madness would go that far... would it? I mean, maybe they'd add a little Frozen touch to it, but it wouldn't go full Frozen, would it?

This is sad news. Why Frozen. Haven't we had enough. This film has taken over DCA and DHS. It's crazy. Not to mention the fact that we have to endure "let it go" during the DL fireworks and WoC. I'm surprised we don't have a Frozen Land yet. I'm going to really miss Aladdin. It's the best stage show Disney has in any park. Hopefully the pushback will make Disney change their minds. I have yet to read a positive comment about this.

It's strange they're doing this with Frozen already slated for Broadway. Aladdin was a bit of a different situation. Also, Aladdin had repeat value thanks to the genie and his topical humor. Even if I see this, and even if I love it, it will not draw me back time and time again for a decade like Alladin did. Also, with this and the likely removal of the Oasis, Alladin will have no presence in the parks which is a bit strange (also strange Lion King had none - but that's the result of the no-investment 90's in the parks).

One of the people commenting on the Parks Blog said "Frozen is everywhere, but it’s everywhere because the public demands it to be. It’s extremely popular for a reason! It’s a unique, great story with many memorable characters."

Well, Aladdin is a great story with memorable characters too, but that aside... IS the public still demanding Frozen to be everywhere? I mean... really? Is anyone out there saying, "You know... I just don't have enough Frozen in my life, and I need more because it's not prominent enough"?? There are lots of great stories with memorable characters out there. Frozen is not the only game in town.

This is what happens with the consumer products big wig running the resort. Look at Big Hero 6. Big box office hit, and not so much as a parade float. But it probably wasn't a huge merchandise mover so it's ignored. As long long as frozen is moving merch, which it is, its presence in the parks will continue, which is annoying.

Noooo! Aladdin was probably DH's favorite thing about DCA. (he's definitely not a Disney lover like I am)
I honestly have no interest in seeing this new Frozen show :( I haven't been to DLR since before the Frozen take over, and I'm already sick of it

I think the main reason people hate to see it go is because of the replacement. If it where Tangled or the Lion King people would be sad, but say I can life with it. But now it's Frozen and people get mad :)

I think it's sad Aladdin goes (it's fabulous) but come on 13 years is a long long time for a park show. So a replacement is ok. The only thing you can blame Disney is the choice of the replacement. They have 50+ classics they can choose from and again it's frozen.

Maybe it's good news for Muppet Lovers :)
