Al Gore uses 20 TIMES as much electricity as you do

His other alternative would have been to know how to spell it(guide list or not), and not correct the kid who did.

You really see no difference do you?

No I really see no difference. The story about both VP's is distorted in order to advance a preconceived notion of them. The stories aren't the point. The distortion is the point. It's not really a simplistic analysis.

First off I never used any of those items you quoted above. I'm no fan of John Kerry, but I never faulted him for his slip ups of the tongue. Unlike you, who has lambasted the President for his botched language, I don't hold verbal slip ups against anyone. The only time I had a problem with Kerry is when he botched that joke about the troops in Iraq and then refused to apologize right away. It wasn't the joke I had a problem with because I knew what he meant, it was the arrogance of letting the story get so out of hand.
My ridicule of Bush has more to do with the fact that even when speaking in coherent sentences, he still makes very little sense. There is just about nothing that the man stands for that I agree with. The fact is, I would ridicule him even if he were as eloquent as Barack Obama, based not on how he says things, but what he says.

As for the my calling Al Gore a hypocrite, I still stand by it because I feel he could much better, being the face of the Global warming discussion in this country. I understand he was Vice President and would live a different lifestyle than a normal middle class person. My point is he could do better and he needs to.
Fine...then say he could be doing much better. If you read through this thread, the vast majority of the people that are on the right side of the aisle are doing nothing more than slamming him for perceived hypocrisy, with little or no explanation around it. The fact is, you're probably right, and he probably could be doing more. But rather than adopt a reasonable argument, people seem to be doing nothing more than "neener neener" name-calling.

As for this quote below of yours, you now have turned into a personal attack again. At first it was just conservatives in general. Now I see you just changed it to me, who according to you, is too simple and stupid to see it your way. Which to you is the correct and only way to go. Not only are you arrogant, you lie as well.:sad2:
In no way was that a personal attack. I was simply stating an opinion that your side of the debate is seeing things much too simply, rather than with the complexities that are there. Nowhere did I call you stupid or simple (or arrogant or a liar, for that matter, but I won't cry about it). I was simply pointing out that you ("general" you, not you in particular, although you fall under the heading based on what I've read of your posts) have shown no grasp of complex issues as complex issues.

You fit the perfect stereotype of Liberals that people dislike so much and why Liberal sometimes is used as a dirty word. You don't have to be arrogant or make yourself out to be intellectually superior, but you can't help yourself and you do every time. At your age you still believe that everything the Democrats do is good and wholesome and the direct opposite for any Republican. I out grew that line of thinking when I left high school, what's your excuse?
Better watch out for those glass walls there 67. If you look around, you can easily find posts of mine criticizing democrats. But hey...don't let facts get in the way of a good personal attack.

You know what I think the saddest thing about you is? That you label people forever and never allow them to grow or change their opinions because of some of their political beliefs you dislike. I have grown to hate the Iraq war and see it as a poorly planned, huge mistake. I'm also very disappointed in how GWB has ran his Presidency and the many mistakes he has made. I truly wish I had never voted for the man. That doesn't matter to you though, because your political ideology won't allow for change in people like me, who you never hide your contempt for. You have no idea who I am, what life experiences I have had, or how much knowledge I really have, IRL. At first I used to dislike your way of treating people you disagree with, but now I just feel sorry for you. Life's too short to be that arrogant and mean to people you don't agree with. I pity you, I really do.

Which goes to show how very little you know about me, let alone the subject at hand. I highly respect people that change their positions once new facts come to light. I have no idea what gave you the idea that I felt any differently. :confused3

And as for my "arrogance", as you so elegantly put it...yes, I believe I am right about those issues in which I involve myself in the debate. Otherwise, i wouldn't have a position at all. I gain as much information about the subject as I can, and try to make a judgement based solely on that information and not on preconceived notions (hence, my agreement with Shrub on such issues as the space program and school standards). But if I didn't believe I was right about something, I certainly wouldn't be making a strong argument for or against it. You may call that "arrogant". I call it "common sense".

But hey...if you feel the need to personally attack me again, be my guest. I certainly won't report you for it, as my skin is thicker than that. But at least try to be a little more accurate next time, 'kay? :thumbsup2

Wow. I have new respect for Al Gore.

He creates this huge scare based on half-truths, makes a fiction movie out of it, makes money off that, receives an oscar, has millions of mind-numbed minions hanging on his every word, THEN he creates a company to sell carbon-credits to HIMSELF for a PROFIT!!! AND, he wants YOU to buy them, too!!!

Jim Jones couldn't have done it better!

Gore's 'carbon offsets' paid to firm he owns
[SIZE=+1]Critics say justification for energy-rich lifestyle serves as way for former VP to profit

"In other words, he 'buys' his 'carbon offsets' from himself, through a transaction designed to boost his own investments and return a profit to himself," Hobbs writes. "To be blunt, Gore doesn't buy 'carbon offsets' through Generation Investment Management – he buys stocks."

More opposing viewpoints.

So much for that unanimous concensus, huh?

You complaining about personal attacks?? :rotfl:

Odd definition of "common sense" vs "arrogance."
