AKV Value even cheaper now

Looks like Vero Beach had some seasons adjusted, ocean view inn rooms increased and studios decreased, and season adjustments at Aulani.

Shucks, ocean view inn rooms are all we recently booked at VB. Thank you.

I guess the club level villas have higher demand than the value villas, but I am surprised the downward point adjustment wasn't applied to the standard or savanna view since those likely have lower demand than the value ones.

I'm disappointed that the points needed for the values has decreased. That means, since I'm not an AKV owner, the value villas will probably be even harder to get than they are now!

With the low number of Club units they wouldn't be able to have an equal adjustment using the much larger categories. Only the value category would be small enough to allow an equal balance.

I just bought a 100 point contract in order to compete for value and/or concierge at 11 months.

I’m excited about the possibilities it affords.

AKV Concierge has been far too hard to get with all the walking that is allowed. Maybe increasing the points needed will put a dent in that demand. (Insert phony laugh track here.)

The only change that needed to be made was limiting the number of adjustments to a reservation to a practical number. A limit of say 3 drop/adds without having to cancel all days and return to the back of the waiting queue should do it. This simple change could help reduce calls to member services on top of leveling the playing field.

DH enjoys a couple of nights in CL, we have 2 nights set in 2018, I like the location of the value Villas, especially those by the pool. I suppose our usage of both means the points average out for us.

With DVC adding a for fee CL daily lounge at Wilderness Lodge, maybe they will be selling access at other resorts.

Perhaps, but now the value villas will have further increase in demand, which may even exceed those for Club level. Then, what? My point was that these types of adjustment are supposed to even out demands. Maybe increase point requirement for both Club level and value to allow for decrease in standard or savanna view. I am sure there is a way to do it if one really dig deep into it.

To be honest, I don't really see the purpose of this adjustment. Both categories book immediately at 11 months and that's not going to change with this move. I'm more likely to book value than club so I like the change and will just get ready to battle it out for my dates (though I'll likely be booking the value 1BR so it won't be as hard).

That's essentially what I was getting at. Why did they even bother? Since I don't have any interest in either and I don't own any points at AKV, the change won't affect me.

I'm not entirely sure this was done due to demand. Makes more sense if they were just trying to make concierge "pay for itself".

Perhaps the initial points premium for club level didn't fully cover the share of concierge amenities the Hotel side charges to DVC. Maybe DVC is just trying to avoid having all the non-concierge villas subsidize concierge services. It's a theory!
