Planning family trip for spring, and we will be renting one of the larger (nonfolding) ECVs for my father who has mobility limitations. If travelling with is scooter from AKV to BCV, I know he could take a bus to HS then the water taxi to BCV, however, we would prefer to just get taxis and I was wondering if anyone knew if there are either handicap taxis with ramps to get the ECV inside or if the larger ECVs can be lifted to fit into the back of a taxi van. Thanks

This will get more response on our DISability Board so I am moving it over there for feedback. Good luck to you..

The Concierge or front desk at either hotel can help you to get an accessible taxi.
The company most people have posted about using is Yellow Cab (a part of the Mears Transportation Group). The phone number listed on Mears Website ( http://www.mearstransportation.com/ ) for Taxicab Dispatch:
(407) 422-2222

Last time I talked to Mear's Taxi they told me they have 20 accessible cabs. However, reservations are strongly advised as they may not all be on the street at the same time. And there is no difference in price between a regular taxi and an accessible one.

Thanks you for all the help! I did call Mears tonight and they were very helpful. I will plan on using them this spring. Thanks, again

Make sure they are aware that you need a taxi with a lift..twice during our recent trips, we got taxis that my son and the driver actually had to lift the ECV into..not fun; specify LIFT..
