I have booked a 1br SV villa in July.
Lately, I have been reading lots of negatives about the views as these rooms only seem to overlook the construction work going on. This has made me think again about the benefit of using extra points for a bad view and now I am thinking of changing to concierge instead.
What would you do?
Is there any chance of getting a 1br concierge at this stage?

Only one side out of about 3 of the Savanna Views face the new construction work from what I recall, best bet is to requestb a room on Zebra trail. As for concierge it is likely to be too late to change now as there are only 5 one bedrooms, if not already being used as a 2 bed. Plus concierge is more points than a SV if you want no chance of construction work and less points a standard ie pool view would be best but there are also few of those rooms, but not as few as concierge.

If you're not familiar with the layout of AKL/AKV, there is a map here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/DAKLMap.pdf There are three savannas: the Sunset Savanna is to the left on this map, Arusha is in the middle of the horseshoe and Uzima is to the right. The construction is going on on the Sunset Savanna side of the resort. You could add a request to your reservation asking for any savanna other than the Sunset Savanna but there is no guarantee.

I don't think trying to switch to Concierge is a good idea if your primary motivation is to avoid a view of the construction. There are five Concierge villas. Two of them face the pool and three face the Sunset Savanna which is where the construction is going on.

If you want to eliminate any possibility of looking at construction, then try to switch to a Standard View 1BR since those all face the pool area. The downside is, of course that with a Standard View room you won't get to sit out on your balcony and watch the animals which for me is the main reason to stay at AKV/AKL.

I called on Christmas eve and got a concierge studio in July at 7 months so you might be lucky although with the 7 month window now open any spare concierge rooms might have all gone

If the only reason you want concierge is to avoid the construction view I would not switch. Concierge villas face the construction. You could keep your savana view reservation and request a specific view. If you want a concierge room for what these rooms provide, you might still have a chance to get a room.
