AKV Savannah View, really, is this it?

Hi,

I have a quick question.......I have a 1 Bdrm Savannah view in Jambo booked for the last week in August. I was wondering if the Savanna is "active" during that season or am I better off holding off til a fall/winter trip to try this resort. I am torn between this and BCV for Stormalong Bay. We have a DD who is 2 and are looking for a good resort for her in the heat of the summer.
GO WITH BCV!!!!!!

There have been exceptions, but usually, I book savannah view. I think it's worth it, definitely!
I go to the common rooms/area to see the animals when I'm not in a savannah view. The enclosed room doesn't have seating outside, so you are viewing the savannah but there could be people standing out there. Usually, I walk around the resort until I find a spot where there are lots of animals, and park myself there with a book. However, there's nothing like the convenience of being in your own room!
With a 2 year old, with a good savannah view, you may find yourself stressed to leave the room because of the pleas to keep watching the animals. However, if we had a 2 year old with us, I would pick AKV over BCV. The little playground area at AKV is nice and near animal viewing.

As my DH could tell you, this problem is not unique to 2 year olds! I can't tell you how many times he has been standing by the door telling me we had to get going and I was still out on the balcony telling him "But the giraffes are out here!" :rotfl2:

We stayed in Jambo House in August 2007 and had a view of the Arusha (sp?) savanna. Our 1BR villa was on the Zebra Trail. The animals were out and active every day! Our family loved the view :goodvibes - it was well worth the extra points.

That being said, you can't go wrong with BCV either. Does your DD love animals? Being 2yo, she might enjoy the enormous pool at BCV more than the animals right now. The new Kidani pool/water play area will be open by August, though, and Jambo guests can use both AKV pools (and vice versa).

We are heading back to WDW this August and will be splitting our stay between AKV & BCV - the best of both worlds!

Well, since you mentioned it...me too.:flower3: The thrill of seeing those animals hasn't gone away, and I hope it never goes away. We took a cruise to Alaska, and for some, the sightings of bald eagles became old hat, not for me. However, when we visited Greece, someone remarked, at another ancient sight, "Well, look at the rubble." THAT I understood!!!!:lmao:

Just got back from AKL (first visit there). Had room 5555, studio. Hardly an animal to be seen for the most part.

Then we were outside one day at animal feeding time. They rang some bells and then within 3 minutes A LOT of animals walked by our room all going to get their lunch. Pretty neat!

Room 5555 is a very far walk, too. I think it was on the zebra trail (well at least that sign was in the hallway). Only saw a zebra when they were going to lunch though, LOL.

We loved AKL though. Just not the room.

Actually, I believe the new pool opens in May with the opening of the 1st Villas at Kadani.
