AKV or CCV - Help me decide!?!

SSR is 165 points for $111/pp

SSR you should be able to get for $90 easily if you put in enough offers and wait just a little bit and then possibly more or less based on it being stripped or loaded.

When people go to dump extra contracts later this year SSR is going to be the one they drop not the other resorts that they want to book at 11 months.

I’d like to add somewhere between 130-150 more resale points and I am conflicted between the fantastic value of SSR and the resort I love, BWV. Part of the reason I’m conflicted is that I really like many of the other resorts and I would want to stay at all of them. I keep thinking about the Savannah views at AKL, the second bathrooms at Kidani and BLT, the huge room sizes and favorable points chart at OKW, and the ability to walk to MK easily from BLT. The only resorts that don’t really appeal to me are RIV and VGF. SSR appeals to me more than both of those because of the proximity to DS. I would be happy to stay in a 1BR there if I could not trade out at 7 months. More and more, I think that because I can’t settle on one resort, it probably makes the most sense to buy the best value, which is either SSR or more Poly points. I’m primarily interested in 1BR, and those tend to be easier to trade into at 7 months too. Because of the contract length, Poly is actually a great buy for SAP as well. But the cost to buy in at SSR is lower, and 34 years left on the contract is plenty for me. All of that to say, if you are conflicted, I would choose the cheapest option that you would be happy to stay at if you could not trade at 7 months. Particularly if you are very conflicted over several choices.

For the last year I have been researching/analyzing a DVC Membership. Probably too much to some degree as I want to get the best bang for my buck and it has kind of taken the excitement out of the emotional buy. We are a young family, two kids (2 & less than 1). Looking to possibly purchase DVC contract.

1. AKV or CCV? From everything I have viewed, and based on preference, it comes down to these two. Dues are similar, price per point is about $20/pp difference (also depends on stripped or loaded contract). Using the CAGR Calculator from this board, based on 2 trips per year, my ROI is 6-years for both. Biggest difference, IMO, is CCV has 11 more years on the Deed.

1A. What always is in the back of my head is getting a SSR with the cost being so low (its like that little mouse on my shoulder which will not go away) - this is my analysis-paralysis talking

2. How many points would you recommend starting with? I hate to say this, but must; I would have to finance with the goal to pay it off within 4-5 years. I was thinking 200, but open. Maybe get smaller contract first?

3. Resale or Direct? Resale- think I can get $135-$150 (CCV) and $103 -$120 (AKV). CCV Direct is $195/pp (with incentive) & AKV is $178/pp (with incentive)

1: The kids don't 'get' CCV until they're around 10 so I'd say AKV. OKW = no with young (think Golfers)
1A: SSR: Nice with young kids of all ages - 3 really good pool choices without leaving the resort grounds + quiet pool
2: We financed 3 of our contracts (DH doesn't like to part with his funds) & I had no problem with it although many do because they're planning on selling in 10 years (average owner length) and figures it reduces their savings (plus a 'no' with unstable income/jobs). Assuming you are starting with 1br I agree with 200 but if you're looking at 2br then go for 300 (many split these contracts to sell when the kids are done).
3. So are you lazy and impatient? We are so we always by direct. If you are patient and don't mind the prolonged process then resale saves $$$$. If you do resale then buy where you are going to want to stay due to the elimination of being able to trade into the Legacy 14 (other older DVC). We don't pay attention to contract length cause we're old - LOL!.

Sounds like you're leaning SSR, OKW, or AKV now. But if CCV comes back to the mix, consider a fixed if you want a studio.

Also, reading this thread I'm glad to know that there are people who like SSR and stay there with some regularity (I usually just see "I would never stay there!"). I stayed there last year and thought it was nice--it's not stunning, but you can have a lot of fun there. I'm looking forward to seeing the renovated rooms at some point.

SSR, their renovations that they have done so far are outstanding. It's a difference between night and day from their non renovated rooms. It's bright, modern and a much cleaner look.

To the OP, you should be able to get SSR for around $95.00 a point maybe less if you look around.

CCV is nice but if you are looking for studios it is very difficult to get, you will have to walk a reservation which is a pain.

AKL is nice and the pools are great! Kids will love it....

SSR, is nice pools are also great! Young adults and older teens will love it because of DS.

My first offer is in process right now. I went with SSR because I know we will be using 1 BR most of the time. We have dietary restrictions and even though Disney is good about that stuff, the kitchen is great for piece of mind. The selection of contracts and price point tipped my hand to an SSR offer after looking at contracts for a few months.
When it comes to studios only, people love poly. I may even snag an @7 mo for a couple nights there if we do WDW without kids...

We just passed ROFR on 180 points SSR @ $87. Hope that helps. Its our first contract.
