If you have stayed at AKV in these rooms, can you let me know what you think of them. We don't normally sit in the rooms, so the view is not that important. I know it would be a thrill to have Savanna views for our daughter (we will do that someday), but the points are reasonable in comparison, and we have not stayed at this resort yet.

Thoughts please!

Thanks,
E

All Jambo standards overlook the pool area and are fine.

Yes! I LOVED my room! (#5020 on Giraffe Trail) Very convenient location (near the lobby) and had a full view of the pool. :cloud9: I'll take that "standard" view anyday!! :thumbsup2

The only difference between the savanna view rooms and the standard view rooms is the view. The size of the villas, the floor plan and the furnishings are the same.

As drusba posted, at Jambo House the standard view rooms all overlook the pool.

You asked about Jambo House but since Kidani Village will open soon, I thought I'd add that in Kidani, the Standard View rooms will have a view of a pool, garden or parking lot.

This was our view from a studio standard 5412. We could see the pool, but also had an expansive roof view:

This was our view from a 1 br standard 5432, just a few feet further down the hall.

Thanks for the pictures!!!

How is the noise from the pool area?

I don't remember it bothering us at all. I think the DVC rooms are high enough up that it's not so loud.

This aerial photo shows the location of the Standard View rooms in Jambo House. The rooms are all on the 5th floor and include the rooms along the top of the photo and down the pool side of the "spur" along the right side of the photo. The rooms on the pool side in the building segments along the left of the photo are the pool view Value rooms. The part of the building in the upper left corner is the lobby. So as you can see, the Standard View rooms closest to the lobby will have a "roof view" more so than a pool view and the further away you are from the lobby, the better the view.

Looking back at the photos posted in this thread, room 5412 is the 3rd room from the lobby. Room 5432 is the second to last room along the top (just before the "spur"). Room 5020 is a Value room in the second building segment from the lobby, near the elevator (you can see the top of the elevator shaft in the photo).

Ahh, you're right Lisa! :) I forgot that 5020 was actually a "Value" with a pool view. The "standard view" I had was 5406 - which was right at the end of the suspension bridge over the lobby. Kind of noisy, but being at WDW makes "noisy" easier to tolerate!!! ;)

I'm feeling better that I have a standard view room this coming Friday!

I had 50 points to spend for a solo trip in June, and I got 1 night BCV studio and 3 nights AKV standard view studio, picked Jambo because I really like the lodge and Mara. I think those point costs for standard view are a true bargain!

When they gave me that room, they told me it was a value view. Was I upgraded and no one told me?

Anyways, to the OP about the standard view in Jambo house, here's the view-

I loved it! For my next trip, I wanted to stay in Jambo house. MS said I could choose either savanna view or standard view. From my experience, standard view was much better so that's what I chose.

No, it is a Value room with a standard view.

AKV has two defined views:
  • "savanna" view which is a view of a savanna
  • "standard" view which is a view of a pool, garden or parking lot.

AKV has four booking levels: Value, Standard View, Savanna View and Concierge.
  • Value rooms are smaller and can have either a "savanna" view or a "standard" view.
  • Standard View rooms have a "standard" view.
  • Savanna View rooms have a "savanna" view.
  • Concierge rooms have either a "savanna" view or a "standard" view.

Room 5020 is a Value room with a "standard" view, a view of the pool in this case.

Wow some of the Value views are pretty nice.:goodvibes

I am not sure what we will be getting in April for our value view, but I wouldn't mind those.

I had a value one-bedroom last month. It was the first DVC room directly above Jiko's roof. View was nothing special (alot of roofing to look at) but okay. Wonderfully close to the lobby. And since this villa had nothing on the other side of the master bedroom wall (it's an outside wall), it was completely quiet and peacefull at night. In fact, it gave me the impression of one of those ultra quiet music recording rooms where there is absolutely no echo effect. Nice surprise in a hotel room!

I was more worried about the size of a value room. Turned out it was not too bad. The master bedroom was tight though! Liked being close to everything happening in Jambo too - Kidani seems so isolated and alone (not necessarily a bad thing, depending on my mood). Saved alot of points though.

However, unless I am on a tight point budget in the future, it will be Kidani for me. I really like the second bathroom and my mom had a hard time getting in and out of that jacuzzi tub/shower in Jambo. It was just too deep for her to get in and out easily and made her quite uneasy actually. In Kidani, that is so not an issue.

We had a standard view in October and we were in room 5436 and then we were moved to 5430.The first room was very noisy, above us since the elevator box was above us. Both rooms had a great pool view and was never noisy. I would stay there again.
