AKV Jambo: Good, Bad, Ugly

Quick report. Just returned from a 5 night stay in Jambo 1 bedroom value (1/15-1/20)

GOOD: I really like this resort and I LOVE the layout of the one bedroom, especially the bathroom. The room arrangement makes sense, with very little wasted space. The bedroom is a little small, but overall I just liked the room. I slept on the fold out sofa, and it was OK, not great. DD and her friend ended up in the bedroom. I also like the activities of the resort, and just walking around watching the animals, etc.

BAD: The CM checking me in was excellent, but got my hopes up when he showed me my room on the map and said "You'll be able to see animals." I took that to mean that we would be able to see animals from our room and got a little excited. Unfortunately, our room was not on the savannah side but had a lovely view of the parking lot. I was expecting the parking lot view until he got my hopes up. Either he was confused about the room numbers or he meant I would be able to see animals from the windows in the hallway.

UGLY: Bell services. We waited about 10 minutes for a bellman to come collect our bags from our car. I told him our room number and that we were going right up. After 1 hour and 15 minutes, our bags still had not been delivered to our room. I went back down to bell services. The bellman had marked it for "hold" and deliver later???? Anyway, they were very quick at getting it to our room after I went to the front. We chose not to use bell services for our departure.

The weather was great, especially since the week before we left was so cold!

That's one reason we don't use bell services at AKV either. They offered to bring us our OL, and we had to go down later and collect it ourselves when it didn't get delivered. That's when I got a little miffed and decided they weren't getting my tip money when we left either, so we hauled our stuff down,and I sat with it under the portaco while DH brought the rental car around. No problem though, because we usually do our own bags when we have a rental car anyway.

We were there 2 weeks ago and also had trouble with bell services.

It was a great trip though. I loved going over the bridge on the 5th floor, but didn't care for the hike to our room each time.

Thanks for the report! We're staying in a 1 br at Jambo in a few days for the first time. During our last trip to AKV, we were at Kidani in a 1 br. I'm curious to see which section of the resort we like more.

We were in room 5135 which is the farthest away from the elevators on the floor. We had no neighbors. They put lots of foliage in front of the balcony, but you can still see the cars. Took pics but haven't uploaded them yet.
