AKV Jambo Concierge?

On the other thread it was talking about getting "gifts, Cards and balloons" from the CL CM's when you checked in, does this apply to DVC as well? Do we also get turn down service? My kids really miss the little towel animals they used to get when we stayed at the WL and AKL in the past. We are new to DVC and have stayed only once on points so far. Thanks for answering my lame questions.

No balloons at AKL/AKV. Towels animals seldom happen at DVC resorts because housekeeping only comes every four days and many times they are only changing out the towels and removing the trash. Plus they have so much more to do to clean the villas over the non-villas.

If you stay AKV Concierge, you get turn down service. Plus the chocolate and the little AKV/AKL card. But not in any of the non-concierge villas.

So are the rooms smaller in conceriege level for a 2 bedroom? We are in a 2 bedroom villa mid November.

You need to make that reservation as soon as MS opens 11 months out. There are only five two bedroom lock offs on the sixth floor and that comprises all of the DVC Concierge rooms. Three have a savanna view, two are pool view.

These rooms are converted AKL rooms so they are all lockoffs. There isn't the extra bathroom you have in Kidani Village. In the one and two bedrooms (basically a one bedroom and studio connected) there is no separate shower, only the tub/shower combination like in the studio bathroom.

So what would a 2 bedroom look like? Is it still normal bedroom with king bed and then second bedroom with the 2 queens? Also with 2 bathrooms?

No, the second bedroom has one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa since it can also be reserved as a studio. A two bedroom lockoff is just a studio connected to a one bedroom. All the two bedroom villas at Jambo House are lockoffs.

So it is the same room arrangement whether you are in a regular 2 bdroom or the conceriege level 2 bedroom? If so, I'm going to try and upgrade to the conceriege level for our upcoming trip. We have a family of 5 with three boys (17, 11, 8).

All the two bedroom villas at Jambo House are lockoffs - meaning the one bedroom and studio with the door open between them. Both concierge two bedrooms and non-Concierge two bedrooms. Kidani Village does have dedicated two bedroom villas that can only be reserved at a two bedroom with two queen beds in the second bedroom.

I, too, have always had to intiate the communication with them. This will be my 4th ro 5th concierge stay... Can't remember!

My experience is that it's hit and miss whether they initiate the first contact after booking. It used to be the concierge staff at your resort that used to do that but I think there a a single dept (Itinerary Planning Office) that does it for all resorts now.

I've stayed concierge at different resorts over the years and there has been no consistency.

We've done Concierge a few times and have 4 boys. It is absolutely worth it! Now it's the first thing they ask when I tell them we are going to Disney. We did do the Safari and loved it, but it seems like it was only offered a few times a week and you had to have a concierge room the day of or they wouldn't let you book it. It may have changed though because it was a couple of years ago. As for initiation on dining reservations....we have had to contact them every time. Last year we stayed over Thanksgiving week and by the time I realized that no one contacted us we were well within our window and our options were sparse. So, stay Concierge, do the Safari and have a great time!

Does have any thoughts or opinion on which view is better from the 6th floor concierge rooms, pool view or savanna view?

I like th Savannah side, as I'm sure everyone else does too. Some say the view is not that great but I think it's fine.

I prefer the pool side.

The Savannah side has 2 major drawbacks for me.

The 1 bedroom without a tub (roll in shower only)
and
The 1st studio off the lounge (6201?) that is in the corner of the building that will have you looking at the bldg wall unless you step out and look right. That 1 is an obstructed savannah view at best.
Pool side has neither of these issues.
Neither view is guaranteed, but I definitely dont try to be first to check in to get concierge level savannah view.
We enjoy our concierge stays because of the services and amenities.

I completely agree with you. We prefer the Savannah side and have always had a great view of the animals.

We had a pool view and liked it a lot. I'd be fine getting it again.
