I had posted before that the tapestry had been replaced with a robe. I couldn't get any of my fellow DISers to confirm so I asked Disney to verify my information.

Disney called today and indeed the tapestry has been changed to a "African Ceremonial Robe" that will have the founders names stitched on it.

The robe will be on display in the lobby of Kidani Village.

Oh, I really hope that is not true.

There will be some very angry calls to member services and guides, if that is true. Including some calls from us.

It is true, I received the same information from two different sources in DVD Management.

If you recall the fine print Disney has the right to modify the incentives at their discretion. The African Necklace that we received is a modification from the original offering.

Are you kidding?? Did anyone really buy dvc to get their name on a tapestry??:confused3

I'm a founding member, and could care less if they put my name on something or nothing at all. I bought LODGING....the tapestry would be cool, but it has no bearing on my dvc happiness. I'll save my calls for something that matters.

I'm not an AKV owner but if I was told one thing and they gave another I would be disappointed. I doubt anyone bought in just to have their name on a tapestry but I totally understand the disappointment. I would be upset and yes probably call my guide and or MS and state my disappointment. It also has an effect on the customers experience when you can't count on them delivering on their "word". This is a shock from Disney because they are considered leaders in customer experience and you should never under deliver on something like this....over deliver YES.

So for what it is worth to AKV founding members I for one at least feel for you

I was just wondering when people bought into VWL or BCV or Vero beach did you get anything as a gift like a tap with your name on it or necklace?

Now DISers... I didn't post this to upset the troops, I just wanted to provide an update.

Who knows, maybe the Robe will be better than the Tapestry. I suggest that we wait and see what it looks like before we get too upset.

What did member services and the guides do to deserve to get yelled at? When they told you it was a tapestry, it probably was. And then it got changed -- on you, on them, on everybody. Not their fault.

While I don't really understand the anger here, if you do feel the need to express it, write a letter. Don't just get on the phone and yell at whichever unlucky person happens to pick up.

And I agree with disneynutz -- it seems advisable to wait until you actually see the robe in question before having a fit. There are good robes and bad robes and good tapestries and bad tapestries, and perhaps you'll like it if you maintain an open mind.

We got 100 points and a nice lithograph of the resort for VWL and BCV.

I'm just curious-does anyone know why they changed their minds?

Yell? Where did you see the words yell? Being angry does not mean yelling like an idiot, its never effective.

I didn't say I was going to yell at my Guide, or anyone for that matter. We really like our guide and do understand that the change comes from above. Poor service is poor service, when a company states something as an incentive for a $20,000 purchase, I expect what was sold to me.

You're not alone tapestry/robers. We didn't get the lithograph for accepting or refusing the OKW extension as promissed. If not for the wonderful experiences we've had enjoying and sharing DVC, I think I'd cut off my nose.

I understand your feelings but in the contract that you signed, Disney stated that they have the right to modify the Founders program.

I don't really know what would look better, a "tapestry" which I expect would have been a hanging piece of cloth or a colorful robe. I guess we will just have to wait and see. (I hope we don't get the armpit).

The BLT folks are the ones that I am waiting to hear from. Many are expecting "The Founders Tile" to be a big bathroom size tile, when in reality, if the program proceeds as planned, the tile is smaller than a credit card.

Very good points. You are better off sending Jim Lewis and the board a letter. I'm sure the Member Services people were not the ones who decided to change it.

My guess is after so many members qualified to have their name on the Tapestry it became increasingly impossible to get all the names on it (or became econimically unfeasable) so they decided on the robe.

Who knows, maybe it will look better than the tapestry. Although we'll never be able to compare.

Wasn't there some kind of lighthouse that was to be given out to OKW extenders? Never heard much about that. I didn't get anything with my BLT add-on....I asked. She said no bag, no lithograph, nothin. She didn't tell me if there was a point requirement to get any gifts, so I don't know about those with 100 or more points. I have read some getting fast passes, but I don't know the criteria for getting them.

Now now, children!!! If your name is still going to be on SOMETHING, what's the gripe? Or should I say, "Where's the beef"? In my mind, a nice African styled robe would be much better suited to the theme than a tapestry. Frankly, none of those things have ever been much of a draw for me to buy a specific number of points just for my own vanity. Sure, I paid to have my little tile up on one of those tombstones in front of Epcot, but that was like $45, and didn't involve any "points" that I didn't need. When we purchased AKV, we only bought the number of points we needed, and it wasn't enough for the "tapestry", but that didn't make me want to buy more just to get my name on it. Frankly, I did feel a little remorse when I saw the photos of the nice art piece necklace those folks got though.

I guess I see absolutely no reason to call MS and complain about something so trivial. That's why our dues go up????

Well said, dianeschlicht!!

With all that's going on in the world, I wish the only thing I had to worry about was where my name was embroidered in a hotel in central Florida. Wow.

:sad2:
