I got up this morning for the fun of it to book a reservation at 11 months out at our home resort of AKV for our vacation next October. I did this so we could have something booked just in case our original plan did not work out.

Erin and I are / were originally planning to fly to Vegas for three nights and then rent a car and drive to Disneyland and hope to stay in a one bedroom at VGC for three nights and then fly back from CA.

Well when I called this morning I was able to book a Concierge studio for 6 nights starting Oct 13.:cool1:

Should I just forget about our original plan and keep the AKV Concierge studio and plan on a Vegas/Disneyland trip another year?

Did I get very lucky this morning or is it somewhat easy to get AKV Concierge at 11 months out?

I know our decision will be made for us if we can not get into the VGC at 7 months out.

How easy do you think it will be to get a One BR at VGC for Tues Oct 16, Wed Oct 17 and Thur Oct 18?

In 2007 we went to Disneyland for three days and stayed at the Ramada maingate and could see the ToT from the door of our room. We had alot of fun and thought going back in 2012 would be fun to see all the new attractions and changes to the parks. We have not been to Vegas yet.

Thanks for any input and advise.

AKV Concierge in not easy to get but based on recent availability, the novelty of staying there may be wearing off which improves our chances.

I don't think that I would change my travel plans just because of Concierge unless you really get off on that kind of thing.

The rooms have a restricted view with limited animals. You get your room cleaned every day and they turn down your bed at night. There are limited food and drink offerings in the lounge and you have access to a CM who can help you with reservations. You also have access to a AK tour that is only available if you are staying Concierge.

The concierge level is difficult to get, even at 11 months. Another bonus for that trip is that the Epcot F&W will be going on at that time, which is a great event if you have never been to it. October is a great time to visit WDW.

We have our first AKV-CL stay in June. We have already been impressed with the itinerary planning office (IPO) in helping us plan our activities during that stay. We are really looking forward to the sunrise safari.

Getting VGC at 7 months may be even more challenging than AKV-CL at 11 months, so if you are able to get that, it might be a sign.

You are going to be there the same time we are. We booked our 1 bedroom Concierge starting Oct 12. We had no problems at the 11 month window so not sure if it was hard or not since we hadn't tried before.

If you stick with the concierge room be sure to go on the Sunrise Safari. Great safari and breakfast as well. We spent a good 90 minutes or more out there and took tons of pictuers.

NOT easy! I was one of those calling at the same time you were for the same start date. I got one of the last 2 one bedroom villas available at just 3 minutes after opening. I had to call back this morning at opening to add on one more day for our entire trip. We HAD been planing on swapping our ressie for BLT if we could at 7 months out but I'm thinking more about a split stay now as that was quite the boon to get that room for the 8 days. :goodvibes And I say all that having stayed there at that level before, prior to owning DVC. Truth be told, we were impressed by the help they gave us to arrange a surprise for my oldest son but once we were there, we were disappointed in the food offerings and that lounge was often very crowded when we went. Still, We'll enjoy as we know what to expect and not expect. Making a nice iced coffee late in the AM for the day will be a plus!

we got a 2 bedroom at GCV for a week in June at the 7 month window, stuios might be a little more difficult to book though, good luck.
