AKV Concierge or AKV Kidani?

We are trying to plan next year's summer vacation and we can't decide if we want to stay 5 nights 1 Bedroom concierge or 6 nights 1 Bedroom Standard View at Kidani at AKV. It's the same amount of points, just one less day for concierge. What would you do? Is concierge worth staying one less day?

I'd stay in a trash can if it meant one more day, so my vote goes for the 1 more day. ;)

I'd say plan for concierge, but be ready to take the extra day since the concierge rooms go mighty fast. As AKV grows with more owners, it will get tougher to get, so if you can get it now, do so.

Concierge for sure. It is going to be harder and harder to get and gives you the safari tour options!!

If your trip is in June 09, you may be too late to get AKV Concierge.

I would go for the 1 more day in the newer building. Granted, I have a Concierge studio stay for March, so staying Concierge was one of our "to do" things, but after staying in a 1 bedroom in Jambo, I don't like the bathroom layout there at all. The tub/whirlpool was hard for me to get in just to take a shower, and at Kidani there will be an extra bathroom for you, plus the shower/whirlpools are separate units, so for any larger than a studio villa stay, I will always pick Kidani over Jambo.

We are going some time in July 2009. No specific dates, but it has to be Sun-Thur to afford the points. I guess I can try for concierge and if they have it, then great. If they don't then I will go for Kidani and wait list concierge. It probably will get harder to get concierge with more members. Maybe it's time to do it. :confused3 I just like the thought of two bathrooms. :cloud9:

I agree Bobbi, this is exactly how we feel. We did have our stay in Concierge and do have future stays booked, but only in studios.
The 1 bedroom set up in Jambo is no longer an option for us. Definitely not in concierge, since there is a 1 in 5 chance of getting the 1 bed without the tub.
Looking forward to Kidani opening and I doubt we will book concierge more than a few times.

though I've never stayed in the conceirge of AKL I plan on staying in Kidani around this time next year (my first time EVER using my 11 month window!! I've always booked last minunte). I'm excited about Kidani for the kid splash play area. My boys will be 4 and 18 months at the time so i think it will be perfect for them!

Oh and I agree w/ the first post.......anything for an extra day!! ;)

Kind-of same subject...If I:
- book two nights in a standard view studio at AKV (weekend points) and
- 5 nights in concierge 1 BR AKV at the same time
- Then at 7 month window, change the two nights studio to another resort (if the one I want is available)

Does the whole reservation get cancelled and they start all over? When they try to rebook my concierge room wouldn't it be given to someone on the wait list?

This is all very stressful. Which is really dumb, because I'm talking about planning a wonderful vacation. I just think there are so many chances to mess up everything if I'm not careful.

Well, those concierge rooms are already VERY difficult to get. Yesterday morning we booked our 5 night stay at AKV for June 09. (Just two days after our 11 month window opened.)

We were going to try to do 3 nights value and 2 nights concierge. But with the new booking arrangements, every concierge studio had already been booked for the entire week. So even if we had intended to call tomorrow morning at the exact 11 month window of when we'd want to check into the concierge room, it wouldn't matter since they're all booked already. (I had the CM at MS check for me yesterday morning to see if it would be worth calling in tomorrow to check for availability.) So we're doing to the full five nights in a value studio.

Remember that if you change rooms in the middle of your stay there is an extra free for a room exchange.....

I'd go for the Animal Kingdom Kidani Village.... starts booking Aug 10th.... we're lucky to jump in now because the value is going up... (that was what we were told by DVC)

I have never heard of this. If you don't like your room and request a new room they will charge you a fee. If you switch rooms during your stay that was booked as two different reservations there is not a room change charge.

I never heard this before either. Our long-term plan is to stay in a studio over the weekend and a 1 bedroom during the week. This summer we stayed at the Poly, but next time I want to use points for a studio.

Actually, that is not true. Not if you booked it as two different ressies. This past trip we stayed 7 nights BCV and 2 nights AKV. No extra fees. Perhaps you're thinking of something else?:confused3

And this is exactly why I'll be "walking" any future reservations I want in concierge, so that I can have a shot at the nights I want rather than getting shut out by those able to book before me.

...

If you request to be moved to another room during the same reservation time because you don't like the view, thought it was too light (??) or for any reason other than an emergency with the lodging (flooding from above, no power in the room, wall falls down :scared1: , etc) you will have to pay a relocation fee. But if your reservation changes, there is no extra fee.

If you book a studio for two days, then a lock off two bedroom, it's just two reservations and no extra fee. If you book a concierge one bedroom for two days and then a standard one bedroom for two days, it's just two reservations and no extra fee.

If you spend one night in the room on a four day stay and don't like the view and asked to be changed to another room, you have to pay the cleaning fee and relocation fee whatever that is.
