AKV -Best Savanna View Rooms

We're planning a stay in late August '08, can anyone offer some of the Savanna View rooms that offer the best views? I just don't want to use the extra points and find out we are located behind trees and can barely see anything -if that would be the case we'd rather just go for a Standard Pool View. I realize that nothing is guaranteed but would at least like to make an educated decision when checking in. Any pics of great views is also appreciated. Thanks.

There are no bad savanna views and you will not get stuck with being unable to see from your room because of a tree or other obstruction. There are three savannas -- Arusha which is currently the main savanna within the U of the U-shaped Jambo building, Uzima which looks out from right side of that U and Sunset which looks out from the left side. A number here have recemmended avoiding Sunset savanna view for immediate future because you look across the savanna directly at the Kidani construction (still animals in the savanna but one may not want to see construction). We requested and had Arusha view and it was fine and, looking around resort, we could not find any savanna view room that would have a bad view.

I disagree. There ARE bad savanna view rooms. The ones that are directly above the "people pens." Those are the holding areas that are fenced in for people in case there is a fire. They can't put you right out onto the savanna so they have these fenced in areas. I hate the rooms that overlook those areas. As a regular AKL guest, I've refused those rooms many times. I am there to see the animals from my room and you see very little besides fence from those rooms.

None on Arusha. They are on the "back side" of the hotel on Uzimi (sp?) or Sunset.

Okay, that makes sense, and Sunset is the one that has all the construction views right now too.

Thanks for your replies everyone -big help! Especially Inkmahm for pointing out the area on the backside. So we will stay with the Savanna view, and try to go on the Zebra Trail side(poolside) facing Arusha Savanna. Excellent!

??? If you're facing Arusha Savanna that is savanna view.
