AKLV available?

I received the literature for the new Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas yesterday and although I originally wasn't interested, I'm kind of considering it right now. From what I understand, the price per point is $101 but that we will get an $8 discount per point if we buy at least 100 points. I also said that AKL will be available in Spring 2007. Any ideas when it will be officially opening? I have reservations for early April and I would love to be able to change them to AKLV if they were open by then.

Im assuming since you got a post card that this will be an "add on" for you.
The "best" info I can give is "Call your guide" and get the "official" answers to your questions.

All the reading has said that VAK will be available in the "fall" '07...not April... and that will be the Lodge units ...the new building to be finished in '08.

They are scheduled to accept reservations starting on May 16th for a scheduled check in date of September 1st.

I guess they made a major typo on the back of the card that they sent out. It says "Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas is not yet completed; it is still under construction - initial phases estimated to open spring 2007." Hope too many people aren't disappointed.

I'll check out the Mousecellaneous boards (I didn't even know they existed...I only bookmarked this board) and see what everyone is saying.

I know this isn't an official site (I've been on these boards for years ), but unfortunately the info isn't on the official site either. I've placed a call to my guide but haven't been able to get her yet.

150 or more points gets your name on the tapestry. But you must buy before end of February.

My guide didn't know that information when I talked to him yesterday. They have them, and they know they will be put on the website eventually, but no word on when that will be. He said there is so much information to go on the website about AKV, that he suspects it will take awhile.

Thank you, Diane. I'm hesitant to do an add-on without seeing the layout of the rooms. Weird, I know, but that little, tiny piece of information may help me to convince my husband that we do, in fact, need to do another add on.

He did tell me that they will be significantly larger than the standard room layouts at all the onsite DVC's with the exception of OKW. Smaller than OKW, but larger than the others. The layout of the rooms in the concierge portion of the lodge will be different than the layout of the rooms in the main AKV building.

I just emailed my guide Karen about the AKV. My wife and I are about to buy into DVC and AKV is going to be our #1 choice depending on price compared to Saratoga... If I find any solid info out from her when she emails me back I'll let everyone know.

As far as I'm aware, only current members can purchase AKV points. They'll likely open up to new members sometime in the future.
