AKL vs. WL

I have noticed that the bus transportation from WL to the MK will be re-routed and the buses will be dropping people off at the Ticket Center. In that case, I had booked my son's and mine solo trip in Dec. based off of christmas decorations and proximity of the resort to the MK. There is around 200 dollars difference between the two resorts (and I LOVE to eat at all the AKL restaurants). With the new change in buses, would you go ahead and move over to the AKL or stay with the WL?!? I am soooo indecisive!!!!

You still have teh option of taking the water taxi from WL to Magic Kingdom. It is really nice and not too long of a ride. It drops you off behind the pool at WL.

I stayed at WL last week and my sister stayed at AKL. We never used the bus to MK. Always took the water route. It was just so peaceful first thing in the morning and in the evening the boat dock is closer than the bus stops. The other bus routes to other parks never took very long.
Unfortunately the same can not be said of the AKL. All my sister's bus rides were long. And the walk inside AKL can be very long depending on were you are located. Even the farthest room from the elevators in WL isn't that long of a walk.
The rooms are the same size and I just preferred the log cabin feel over looking at zebras & giraffes. I'm not into animals. My sister's family is and thought the other hassels were worth it. So it is totally up to you and your likes.

You could definately follow the advice of the OP and catch the boat from WL to MK. You can also catch the other boat from WL over to the CR and ride the monorail. This way after checking out the CR you can step off at the Poly and GF to check out their Christmas decorations (don't want to miss the Gingerbread House at GF). You can also ask to ride up front with the monorail driver, for a special ride for your child. All they have at the AK is the bus.

...you really must decide what kind of theming you would prefer. As for AKL, NOTHING beats their bus service to all locations. However, I love WL also, and the boat ride is wonderful (except if it is really cool in the evening - been there, done that! ) but WL DOES share buses with FW, which was really a major pain! If you are concerned about the long walk to your room from the AKL lobby, request a room in Giraffe or Zebra Trail...

We hardly ever take the bus from the WL to the MK.

We love the boat.

My vote is that you keep your ressie at the WL.

The WL is so beautiful at Christmas!
