What makes them "value" and worth less points? Are the noticebly smaller or have less inside? View stink?

LisaS is the AKV goddess here-- she has a map with all the different areas highlighted. Having stayed in a AKV value studio twice, I can tell you that we lucked out and had a sunset savannah view both times! For 11 points per night, that was a great score. I think they are value b/c a savannah view is not guaranteed-- some are parking lot, etc. That is for Jambo House-Kidani will be a different story, think.

Disney said they were smaller. I think that's why they got the "value" tag. Not sure we even get them in Kidani

I can't help you with the 1 BR, but I should have some idea of the comparisons of the value studio by next week. That's because starting Tuesday, I'm spending 2-3 nights in each of the value studio, standard, and savannah. I want to experience the differences. I'm really looking forward to this vacation (gee, like I usually don't look forward to a WDW vacation?! )

The units are smaller, shorter by 3 or 4 feet, and the one bedroom units do not have the pull out sleeper chair.

We spent 4 nights in a value studio (me, DS11 and DD9). Great pool view and location (very near direct elevator to the pool). The rooms are VERY small. The furniture is all pushed up against each other, and the regular studios have a sort of bench/chest thing with storage that is not in a value (no room for it).
With the sleeper couch unfolded, there would be literally no place to put the pack and play unless you had it pushed up against the front door or blocking the bathroom entrance.

Great for 2 adults or 1 adult and 1/2 children - probably not a good place for a family.

The furniture that is in the value studio just seems too big for the room! We were happy we tried one, just 2 of us and we did have a savannah view. In June, I'm sharing a value 1 bedroom with 2 friends for a weekend. The weekend price isn't bad and I think it will work for us.

I just got back from a value 2BR (rented points), and we lucked out with a savanna view that we were more than pleased with. Now, of course, not being a DVC member, I was not used to such lavish accommodations and all anyway, but still, it was very nice.

There was me, DW, DMiL, DS7, DD6, DD4 and DSinfant. More than enough room for all of us. The living area _does_ have the sleeper chair as well as the pull out couch, but due to the size of the room, I can't see how it would be possible to open both at once.

That said, I can see how a studio (the second BR portion in my case) would be cramped for four people. With the pullout couch opened next to the queen bed, there wasn't much extra space.

But still, for the seven of us, it was very very roomy! In a 1BR, I can't see the smaller room size likely to be a big problem. (unless you need room for 5 people, in which case you'll need the standard or savanna view room)

Tinmac - I have question and it looks like you are just the person I need to answer:)

We have a 2BR savannah view DVC room booked for August. We are trying to find out if the Master bathroom has a walk in shower or just a tub shower. I guess there are no dedicated 2BR so I guess it would be the same as what the 1BR has.

Thanks so much!!!

Tanya

In Jambo all of the showers are in the tub. The tub in 1 or 2 br is jetted, but it is a rectangular shape -- no walk in showers unless you're in an HA room.

Thanks for the info. :thanks: I've emailed Member Services and was told to look at the room layout on line.....but it shows the 3rd bathroom and I know those aren't available so I didn' trust the layout for the bath/shower situation. I even called the lodge itself and they couldn't tell me what was there. :confused3 Maybe I should have asked for Mousekeeping - I bet they would know if there is a shower.:thumbsup2

Sounds like we'll be trying to switch our ressies to OKW or SS now

Thanks again!
Tanya

the new units Kidani will have the separate shower and tub.

I though they now had both.

if they do look for Jambo house - that is the layout you want.

Kidani is being build.

Just curious...Which half of a child would fit best in the room? I don't have kids so I wasn't sure. :rotfl2: Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I would hope it would be the 1/2 of the kid that is well behaved.

Absolutely. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sadly, that's the English teacher in me using the / to mean "or" and not even realizing that it turned into math!! :rotfl:

But seriously - I am Mrs. we-can-all-stay-in-a-studio and I was SO happy to see that my waitlist to switch from a value AKV room to OKW came through. Now that I did a value studio with just the two kids - I don't think I'd be able to love my husband if I had to share a value room with the kids AND him.
