AKL Upgrade

My husband and I are going to WDW for our first time in May(2-9). We will be staying 3 nights at AKL and 4 nights at the Poly. We got a standard room at AKL but we were wondering how often do they give guests upgrades at arrival. Would it help if we told them at check in that it is our anniversary( 3 years- our honeymoon was in Disneyland)?

I don't know how often it happens but last August we had booked a standard view (AP rate $109) and recieved an upgrade to savannah view at checkin. We didn't ask about it they just offered it to us. It all depends how full the resort is.
