AKL Totally Confused

I am due to fly out with my DW & DS12 in just 22 days for our holiday of a lifetime at AKL. I am totally cofused by all the reports of AKL being closed completely, or people being moved to other locations. The truth is that I booked this holiday over 15 months ago because we were desperate to visit AKL & we do not want to stay anywhere else. We booked with First Choice, through the holiday hypermarket & have not heard anything from them. I do not really want to contact them incase this prompts them to say we may have to change, so should I just wait?

What is the official line? there are so many different rumours but no official line from Disney, which is adding to the confusion. This should be a really exciting time, after waiting so long, but I am really worried and would like some advise.

If I were you I would call Disney and find out what is going on, although I haven't heard anything myself the phone number for AKL is 001 - 407 938 3000

The temporary closure is due to disruption caused by the construction of Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas units within the main structure of the Lodge. Apparently the disruption was greater than anticipated and Disney has decided to move guests rather than inconvenience them during their stays.

It appears a few rooms will remain in use, but not many. I have been told that the following room types probably will NOT be affected: Pool View Bunkbeds, Suites (except Vice Presidential and Presidential) and Kilimanjaro Club Standard rooms. Guests staying in those room types may request a move, but the decision to move them will be handled on a case by case basis.

Incoming guests are being contacted by Disney representatives or their travel agent to make alternative arrangements. There are reports of some guests (not DVC members) being offered One Bedroom villas at DVC resorts for the same price as their AKL reservation.

We are booked to stay there in a Savanna room from 12th - 26th Aug... we have not been contacted to move though. Booked through Thomas Cook Signatures.. has anyone staying there been contacted by them?

Just checked virgin holidays, Thomas Cook signatures and Disney uk site and you cannot book AKL for our dates at all but no explanation as to why - really worried now - have had this booked since last November and choose AKL specifically for the animals viewed from the hotel room - no other resort at Disney has this so even if we are offered another deluxe resort it will not be like for like!
