Please help

Almost everyone I speak to and tell them we are staying at AKL they are all you will love the animals outside the window.
No we have a standard view, them they say nothing like good luck your vacation will suck.

Will we be disappointed?
We get up early, rope drop nap then close park

Please tell me I will be happy

There are so many beautiful places to take in the views of the animals ! The whole property is gorgeous! Our favorite resort!! Don't let anyone tell u otherwise... Even standard view has a balcony for fresh air... Look at animals elsewhere :-)

Don't let them get you down. You'll love it.

My first time at AKL was in a standard view and we still saw 3 zebras outside our room every morning.

Since then, we've always paid for pool view. I love this resort, and it has nothing to do with having a savannah view. There are lots of places to view the animals, and I have fun roaming the resort while doing so. It's a beautiful resort with lots to see.

I find it to be the most relaxing resort. We love it.

We have stayed at AKL 3 times. The one piece of advice I would offer to you is consider upgrading (for a very small price difference) to a Pool View Room The locations are great. We have stayed in both PV and Savannah view and our vacation was no better in a SV then Pool View. In fact, as much as we enjoyed the *view* - we will only book a Pool View for future stays.

You will be happy! I struggled with this same question 2 years ago when we stayed at AKL. We had booked a 1-bedroom in Jambo House and I chose standard view to save a substantial amount of money. I then panicked and asked the TA I was working with what I should do (keep in mind, this is a woman who would have made more of a commission if she had told me to upgrade!) and she said stick with standard - there are plenty of viewing areas around the resort. So I took her advice and we were not disappointed. Particularly the way you describe how you tour the parks, I think you made the right choice.

We stayed in a standard view once that overlooked the parking lot and even that was not bad- we loved how close it was to the lobby.

And one day a pigeon sat on our balcony- so we did see some wildlife :thumbsup2

We've done savannah view and next time are trying pool view. You really can't go wrong at AKL.

As the others have said, AKL is an amazing resort with or without a savanna view room. Like the pp, we too have stayed both pool view and savanna view and we loved the pool view just as much as the savanna view. There are plenty of viewing areas around the resort that a savanna isn't necessary, IMO, to enjoy your stay. Have a great trip.....AKL is a great resort :goodvibes.

Just as others have said, AKL is an awesome resort. We've stayed both standard and SV. There are plenty of other places to view the animals without spending the extra $$$ on a SV room. You will love it there, even with the standard view.

Not to get your hopes up, but AKL has far fewer standard rooms than pool/savannah view rooms. During less crowded times of year it is possible that you might receive some pixie dust and end up with some form of upgrade.
This happened to us in January 2011 when we were staying on a big room-only discount and had booked a standard room. We ended up with a savannah view. It wasn't the best savannah view I have ever seen-it was a 3rd floor room at a building corner. Nonetheless, we saw giraffes and zebras instead of buses and cars.

AKL has wonderful rooms of all kinds. I have stayed there three times now, always in a standard room, and am headed back in January. It's a beautiful resort with some of the best restaurants on property. We are going to try Ft. Wilderness this summer, but I can't wait to get back to AKL.

Thank you all

We are going down in just a few more days
13-18
I booked Sanaa lunch
And the Wamyama Safari
I will try and snag Boma

Thank you again

First trip we booked Standard view and upon arrival upgraded to Savanna view. It was amazing to sit and watch the animals. NOW, our room was at the end down by the hot tubs at the pool, so I guess technically we could see animals and pool. We loved our balcony but were spoiled in that it was under one of the big turret so we were shaded and enjoyed in rainstorms.

Next trip couldn't swing Savanna, was nervous about Standard and paid for pool view. We had a "roof view" and never used the balcony for the lack of view and noise. Wished we had gotten Standard. The plus in the Standard (aside from the savings to do other things) is that it forces you to explore the resort for animal views. There are MANY. Lots of openings all over that you can sit at, outdoor porches on main building, porch off the Sunset Overlook room and more that are hidden. EXPLORE the hotel (even by the other rooms) and you will see that not only lots of places but by going to them you will see a wide variety of animals that you would miss if you sat on your balcony.

Standard view are also great locations for negotiating all the hotel public areas, some Savanna rooms are a jaunt. Having had Savanna and Pool room myself - I would always book Standard rooms now.:thumbsup2

You'll be fine. First off you may have a view. At our last stay at AKV. We were in a savanna room, sister was in a standard. Hers was only 2 rooms to the left of ours, while it technically looked at the pool, they had a view of the animals pretty much the same as ours. We were the last room on the savanna. On top of that for whatever reason the animals didn't hang out near our end hardly at all. There were days we saw none so we went to another viewing window to find them even tho we were paying to watch from our own room.

In an AK room we had tons of animals. You just can't predict.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: - Pixie Dust at its finest.

I reqad her that Some standard view rooms actually are now looking toward the savannah. Granted they are SV that were not as great as some others, but for the price - Wow.
However, we have stayed in Standard view rooms and loed the resort. We just go to the many viewing areas to watch the animals. When we are in the room we sleep and get ready. If we are on the balcony enjoying the fresh air, we sip n a coffee and read a book or plan our day. Animals vieweed from the room are nice but not worth the extra $$$ for the few minutes that you are looking at them - at least that is the way we feel. I recognize that the savannah view is a big part of the experience for others. Different strokes for differnt folks, I guess.

The AKL is amazing. You will love the resort! The dining is awesome too.

You can try asking for an upgrade upon arrival. Especially if you are celebrating something special, it doesn't hurt. You'd be surprised:thumbsup2

AKL is hand-down my favorite resort. The resort is so incredible, it really doesn't matter what type of room you stay in. This is the view from our "pool view" room from our trip in February 2012.
