AKL standard or POR....Help!!!

I'm taking my mom in a spur of the moment trip next week as a mother's day present.DH has a lot of work ,so, he has to stay home .This is going to be a budget trip and I'm trying to decide between POR or AKL standard.The thing is, I have stayed at AKL before in savannah view and loved it and I honestly don't know if I would hate standard view.I have never been to POR ,my mom has never stayed onsite before ,so, whatever I choose will be fine with her.I really love AKL,How bad is the standard view???

While I love the decore of the AKL rooms and the resort as a whole and I loved staying there in a Savannah room I would also find it difficult to stay in a standard room. The whole poit , to me, is to be able to see the animals from the balcony of your room. There are many others who really enjoyed their stay in a standard room. If the other deluxe resort amenities are important to you and you can get a good price on a standard room than maybe you will be okay at AKL. I would go to POR though!!!

I am voting AKL. I believe even in a standard room you would love the resort. Plus... you always have the chance of getting an upgrade!!!

Well... put aside the memory of your Savanna view and decide if you really enjoyed the other aspects of the resort, lobby, restaurants, pool, shop, public viewing areas.... do you want your Mom to experience this? Do you think she will love it?

You never know - you may get a poolview or savanna view upgrade anyway.

I would go for the deluxe resort over POR...

Have you tried to make reservations for POR yet for this time period? We are staying there 5/11 - 5/16 and wanted to stay longer - but were told due to the POFQ closing for rehab, POR was not available for the extra nights we wanted
So- we booked 3 nights at AKL!! Standard view Oh well - we shall see?? I heard there are many viewing spots inside and outside the resort to see the animals and we don't plan on spending alot of time in our room. Can't wait!
My DH loves POR - so if you can get it for the dates you want - and save some $! I would say go for it!!!

Thank you for your responses.I did tried to get a pool view room,but, they are all gone.

>>^..^<< - You are so right,I do want her to experience AKL, I mentioned it to her today and she loved the idea ,since, she has seen our pictures from our trip.I did tell her we will probably have a parking lot view and she told me she didn't care.We went so many times as kids and my mom was a single divorced parent, I honestly don't know how she did it.I'm glad I'm able to take her now ,she hasn't been since 1984 (19 years ).I did feel tempted to book the savannah,but, that would really put a dent to my unplanned trip's budget. Zebra domes here I come!!

Have so much fun, just being at AKL would be enough for me no matter the room view.
