AKL room with standard view

We were NOT happy with our AKL standard-view room. We had a view of ROOFTOPS from our balcony. The room didn't seem any larger than the ones we have stayed in at Coronado Springs. The furniture is huge and takes up ALOT of room. The public viewing areas were not all that convenient either IMO. I would think there would be MORE opportunity to see them from your own balcony.
If we ever stay at AKL again we will pay the extra for the Savaanah view. We are just not that lucky when it comes to upgrades.
Just a review with a different experience.

Were you in Kidani or Jambo?

We stayed in a standard room at AKL two months ago and we loved it. It is a beautiful resort. We spent so little time in our room. We were at the parks or at the pool most of the time. For us, paying extra for a view is not worth the extra money. :)

This is what we decided. In fact, because of its remote location, we decided not to stay here again at all. It is beautiful, but we would prefer to stay somewhere like POFQ.

We stayed at Jambo and had pool view, nice. We stayed at Kidani and had savanna view, nice. Next trip, Kidani and standard view. The main parking lot at Kidani is under the resort, so I'm not too worried about it. It's a beautiful resort. I would try something new, you don't spend that much time sitting on your balcony anyways.

We had an amazing Standard room last year in April.

Well, it was a give and take, I'll admit. The furthest possible room from the lobby in Jambo house, so a lot of people would hate it for the amount of walking to be done, but hey, we were a pair of 20's somethings. We had no problem making that trip daily. Kept us feeling in shape. :lmao:

The good? It was a standard room with a 'limited' savannah view. Limited as there were no sweeping views of the grounds, but there were animals outside our window 24/7 because it was the corner where they got fed daily. I have photos of pretty much one of every animal possible gathered into a single group shot, waiting on a groundsman to open the gate for them into a feeding area. :wizard:

This makes me excited and hopeful for our trip in June! We have a Standard 1BR booked at Kidani--anyone know what types of views you can get with that?

Granted, if I am stuck looking at the parking lot I will be JUST FINE.

You will either be viewing the pool or a parking lot (well really just low landscaped areas in front of the resort as the parking lot is mainly under the building. We looked out at the picnic area in our standard view.

:goodvibes

Thank you for this. I knew that parking was "below" Kidani but never made the correlation with our view. Truly, I'll be content with whatever view we get, but this makes me all the more excited about staying!

We are staying dvc 2bdrm in Kadani. We will have DFIL with us. He is 79 and will be be using an ECV. Has anyone stayed there while using one. How doable is it. Where would the best location be for him?

I would rather stay at AKL with a view of a brick wall than stay at POFQ. Because the resort is so beautifully and massively themed, both inside and out. The ambiance there (music, aromas) is truly amazing.

We stayed in standard last year and it was more of a garden view, no parking lot view at all. I would stay standard again rather than at a moderate if I have a choice. Plenty of places to enjoy the animals.

I booked our next Disney vacation the week after Thanksgiving. We went this same week last year and it was wonderful. This is our first time spending the extra money to stay at a deluxe vs a moderate. I booked a standard room at the AKL. I really don't want a parking lot view but I was worried about noise coming from the pool. For any of you who have had a pool view, does it say open till the crack of dawn? Will it keep us up at night?

We stayed at Kidani(standard view) last year. We could see the front of the hotel. We are staying there again this year, because we loved it and didn't think we would. Past the front parking is just open, with no building and the pool was to the right. Still a good view

jcieutat-We were at Jambo House with a pool view and we had no problem with noise.
