AKL room question

I've heard that there aren't that many "standard" rooms, meaning rooms without a savannah view. Is that true. So, having said that, if you book a standard room is there a decent chance you'll get a view of the savannah - perhaps maybe even from the side or something? Or are there rooms that simply overlook the parking lot??

depends on how busy they are. If your lucky, you'll get a Savannah. If they are busy, you'll view either a roof or the parking lot.

From what I have been hearing, they are only at about 1/2 capacity so I would say your chances of being upgraded are very, very good!!!

Hi,

Just to be clear a "standard" room at the AKL is not defined as "room without a savannah view". A standard view room at the AKL will have a view of the parking lot/front of the resort over the valet area. There are also pool view rooms which overlook the pool area and then there are the savanna view rooms.

Free upgrades are random at best. Many people have posted that they have gotten free upgrades to pool or savanna view rooms but these should not be expected.

My advice to anyone who asks about free upgrades is that you should book the view that is important to you. If you want to see animals from your room you should book the savanna view room.

Yes, there are rooms that do overlook the parking lot that are standard view.

We book savannah because the view is very important to us when staying at AKL. Also, maybe someday we will get lucky and get an upgrade to concierge!

If you are hoping for an upgrade, consider when you are going. I would guess during popular weeks like Thanksgiving, Feb school vacation, etc that there are not that many upgrades because resorts tend to be fuller....
