Hi
i have just booked AKL for 2 night next Aug(sun/mon) i was planning on booking a standard room(£116 per night) but went with the water view(£130/$230 per night). in your expereince do you feel its a OK price and was i right to go for a waterview room?
any info would be great.
Best wishes
Ruth :paw:

I didn't know they had a waterview. I thought it was just standard (parking lot), poolview, and Savannah view. Learn something new everyday.

Yup; water view is pool view. At first I thought it was for Savannah view and at that price, I'd stay a month! :)

Is it a standard room or a deluxe room?

We just got back from a stay at the AKL 10/2 -10/7. I originally booked standard view room, when we got there they upgraded us to pool view. It was a nice room, but, I realized that I really chose the AKL to view the animals so the second day into our stay I went to the concierge desk and asked if I could get a savannah view room. They had a room available, and told me that it would be an extra $25/night. I thought that it would be worth it to view the animals. The room we switched to was exactly the same as the first, but had a view of the savannah. In my opinion, it was worth the extra money, my dd's loved sitting out on the balcony and watched the animals every chance they could get. It was really wonderful.
I know the price difference from standard to savannah is considerable, so you have to ask yourself if you really are going to view animals, or if that is not a priority for you. There are plenty of places to go to view them if you do not have a room overlooking one of the savannahs, so it's not like you won't see any animals during your stay. Good luck!

I was very fortunate, just back from staying AKL 10/4-10.8 and was upgraded for free to two savannah rooms... If we're ever fortunate enough to stay here again we will book the savannah rooms straight out and pay the extra. They were fabulous!

Stayed at AKL in both savannah (4219) and pool view(1020) rooms. We saw plenty of animals in the savannah view but after a couple of days it lost it's novelty.
We loved our pool view room (1020), as it was near the Mara and yet by virtue of vegetation was hidden. We just felt closer to everything and will book a pool view for August 2006. As for price, I am going to see what I can get through BRP.

I agree with others who suggested upgrading to a savannah view. It was worth every penny to me to see the animals off the balcony of the room. We were in 2419, and I thought it was a perfect location. Great views of Arusha Rock and the savannahs, and not a long walk to Mara and the pool. I no longer want to stay anywhere else ever again!

Hi
we stayed in a savannan room last Aug for a week and we loved it. However, this time i am trying as much as poss to save money( as also doing a DCL and staying at BWV). I will ask on check in how much it would cost to upgrade to a Savana( $25 sounds a good deal) best wishes, Ruth :sunny:
