AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

....only thing is, did they say that it was a std room, or did they upgrade you and maybe you didn't realize it? The reason I ask is because the std rooms are located in Giraffe and Ostrich trails...they were never in Kudu....:confused3

There was no mention to an upgrade at check in. Nor did I ask for one. I simply did the online check in and selected Kudu trail and upper floor which I was given for my standard room booking. According to the map posted on touring plans...the room I was assigned was a standard view.

My TA booked a standard view room for us (2/19/15-2/28/15 yay!) . . . she talked to a reservation cast member to clarify where the standard rooms are located, and we decided to request 3rd floor Kudu Trail for our group. I was going to book Giraffe Trail, but after researching further she found there are standard view rooms in Kudu and Zebra trails - as someone mentioned in a prior post on this thread, they are considered somewhat obstructed by the pen areas. I know sometimes the CM's are misinformed, but hopefully not in this case. Looking forward to our visit !!

Glad to hear this. After my previous post about the only rooms available on the Passholder rate was pool view bunk bed, we decided to go to Disney one less day, save a ton of money, and go to a standard view room (all that was available) I really don't want to look out at the parking lot, but its okay if that happens (I didn't think there were any other options before reading this thread) during online check in, I selected Kudu Trail and Sunset Savannah--ill report back on the 28th and share my experience!

I gave up my Pool view and moved to YC.

Because we are going for F&W, I couldn't pass up the AP rate ($9 more that the AKL pool view) to be able to walk into Epcot.

I haven't been back to AKL since the EEC race in May.. I am starting to miss it!

I think the YC does makes for a better F&W experience and to walk to Epcot is always a major plus. I'm sure you'll be back to the wild side very soon : ) We've never stay there so I'm really interested on how a stay will be as we always have stayed near MK or Epcot (( excited to feel and see what everyone writes about the AKL peacefulness & overall experience )) Have a fabulous & fun F&W vacation, sounds amazing!
Love your siggy picture in your wedding dress, so beautiful : ) that's how I remember who you are in posts by your siggy picture so pretty!

Good luck! I hope we've all gotten the right info and you get a great room.

Just want to say, I'm so EXCITED for my trip! The countdown's in full swing and everyone's packing up, pretty soon we'll be on our way!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Hi, currently booked at CBR but because they decided to close the kiddie pool while we are there guest service offered to let me switch resorts. I was thinking about upgrading and going with AKL and the Arusha view is what is available.

Only been to AKL once to eat dinner at Boma but I really don't know anything about this place. It will be me and my 2 girls 4 and 11 going so do you think this would be a good fit for them. Also, how easy is it to get to the kiddie pool area from the main lodge?

Not too worried about transportation because my mom will be staying near and she has a car that we will be able to use. Thanks so much!

The Sunrise Safari is ending on December 28.

We always looked forward to the Sunrise Safari whenever we stayed club level. :sad2:

May I ask the significance of the word "LITE" in the title of this thread? I only ask because when I stayed at AoA last year I was able to locate a comprehensive thread for all things AoA related and am hoping this is the same for AKL. I just made a reservation (actually my CP daughter did) for AKL standard view room Dec 3-10 for us. This will be our first time at a deluxe. We stayed several times at POR, once at Carabbean and last year at an AoA suite but couldnt pass up the chance for a deluxe this year with our daughter working in the CP program (QSF&B at POR). To be honest we are still hoping Y&BC or BWI open up but am excited about AKL

What a shame. I was hoping that we could do this next year as this is open to all DVC members staying on points at the moment.

Does anyone know how many king bedrooms do they have in CL? I was told by a rude CM when I called to make my requests that there are only 4 king bedrooms and they're all handicap accessible rooms...

We are moving our daughter to Orlando in less than 2 weeks to start the CP! Her role is "recreation" so she will likely be working at one of the resort pools! :goodvibes

To answer your question about the significance of "LITE": it really doesn't have anything to do with the information on this thread! :rolleyes1 This is the FAQ for AKL & AKV! :thumbsup2

There was some confusion several years back with the Mods combining 2 AKL threads; they also moved the AKL FAQ to the Community Board for awhile! :confused3

Things eventually got straightened out and this thread (and its 9 predecessors!) have remained on the Resorts Board! ;) As to why the thread title still has "LITE" in it, only Kimmar can answer that for sure!

Kimmar? Why do you still keep "lite" in the title?! :flower3:

Hello - do any of the standard view rooms have 1 Queen and 1 bunk bed? And if so, do they cost more per night than a regular standard with 2 queens?
Thanks!

Yes, there are standards with a queen and a bunk bed. They do not cost any extra. :thumbsup2

I don't know how many there are, but it does seem to be the consensus that they're all HA. We had one of those rooms, the primary difference from an HA perspective was lots of extra rails in the tub and bathroom, and just a single sink (with no Africa map mural) in the bathroom to leave extra room for wheelchair space. It was nice to have the king bed and side couch/loveseat instead of the two queens.

Geez I wish that was true with the Arusha view rooms. They charge more for the bunk bed rooms in that category. When I made the resort switch the only thing open was the Arusha view with 2 queens and then one with the Bunks but I can't remember what the difference in price was.
