Last year we talked about going the same week and when we looked at flights we realized that we had to come back on Saturday instead of Sunday. That trip never panned out so when we booked our hotel stay with a BB we knew we'd return on Saturday. I can't get over the price difference for those two days! We are going on the 31st because we fear there won't be a MNSSHP in Nov and we really want to experience both that and MVMCP (hopefully on the 7th) - we'll see if our master plan works out!

We were almost in the same boat. I wanted to make sure that we got to see Osborne spectacle of lights, which we saw on a Sat, 4 years ago. Yesterday when i was looking up the airfare i said i guess we're going to miss it if we fly out on a saturday night. What I found out though was that last year Osbornes started on the Friday and not the Saturday.

Also i do believe that MNSSHP ends on the 1st, or possibly the 2nd... youll know in the next month or two. Good luck

That's why we switched to JFK - that was our price for 3 people for our dates so we were able to get $870 for 3 if we flew out of JFK. Much more reasonable!

Yes, the AKL activities calendar gets posted every month; should be the same link. Not sure when exactly gets posted though, and most activities will be the same from month to month.

When we were there in 2010 you had to have a hotel reservation to get past the guard and be allowed in. They will allow guest in with dining ressy's. I'm sure that if he tells the gaurd that he is visiting family and they confirm your ressy that they will allow him in. They probably aren't going to check about him leaving his bike at AKL. Just my 2cents. Have fun.

....although I doubt we will actually attend MNSSHP, it'll be cool to see all the Halloween decorations.....well, most of them anyway...that's one holiday we've never experienced at WDW...

We haven't either! Super excited! DD3 is so excited for the "Boo to You" parade - we watch it on YouTube all the time. So cute!

When we went in Oct/Nov 2010 Instaed of paying the extra $220 for the MNSSHP what we did was purchase the Haunted carriage ride...I don't think they have this anymore.. It was at Fort Wilderness....I believe it was $60 for us four & took about 45 minutes or so...It was excellent..The story of the headless horseman & they bring you past all the campers that have been there & they decorate w/ lights & decorations..Really really cool.

Awesome. This was exactly what I was looking for/interested in when we told the kids about changing our stay from Pop to AKL. Just showed DD10 - she is even more excited

We have park hopper tix (family of four - kids ages 10 & 8, plus my 50+ sister who will be staying at Pop Century). We may park hop one or two days, but any more than that is intimidating to me due to AKL's distance from the parks. What do you think? We will be using Disney transpo or taxis in rare instances, but I hate to spend the extra money on taxis.

Same question goes for the "afternoon break" that is so highly recommended. I feel like if we go back to the hotel during the hot part of the afternoon for rest and swim, it will be really hard to motivate to go back to a park (esp. MK which seems so far).

the park hopping was not a problem for us from AKL, remember that you can hop from one park to another without going back to the hotel - -we did not find it too far to go take a break and go out again, especially if the parks are open late (summer hours), sometimes we do our "break" by staying at the hotel in the am and then going out to the parks in the pm - when the 1st wave is coming back to the hotel...depends on the time of year

I've been trying to run the numbers for an AKL stay about a year from now for my honeymoon and it keeps looking like renting DVC in Jambo House will be the most cost effective??? Is that true? Mind you I can't officially price this due to numbers not being out yet but I just want to make sure if we're going to splurge on this resort we don't blow our entire budget on the room. My number crunching is making a regular room $300-400 more expensive. That just seems like I'm screwing something up.
