Awesome!! It seemed almost too easy or too good to be true. Thank you for the info!!
Don't forget there are downsides to renting, too. Specifically, you can't cancel, no housekeeping every day, and you're in the hands of the renter (they have to make room requests, they could screw you over on the rental and you'd have to go after them legally, etc.). Going through a place like David's helps with the last part of that. I haven't heard of anything happening on a booking through them (though it theoretically still could.). It's just good to know all the risks, even if VERY minor.
But obviously A LOT of people rent for the upside that you found. It's a lot cheaper!!
The was posted on DVC News yesterday:
One exclusive savanna experience previously offered only to club level guests at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas will soon expand to all Disney Vacation Club members staying at the resort.
The two hour Sunrise Safari will open up to Disney Vacation Club members staying at Animal Kingdom Villas beginning April 20, 2014.
You guys want to know why there was a policy change? I'll tell you why. It's because I just blew two years' worth of my DVC points to stay Club Level so that I could do the Sunrise Safari as well as the Wanyama Safari and Night Safari in one trip. I just got back a few days ago. If I had stayed at Animal Kingdom Villas in a regular DVC villa (not Club level), I wouldn't have been entitled to book the Sunrise Safari.
(I'm also the reason Verizon Wireless started carrying iPhones a few years ago. They had been available only on AT&T. I bought a Droid, and 2 months later the iPhone became available.)
It's like I jinx myself, to the benefit of everyone else.
So to all DVC members who plan to stay at AKV in the future -- you're welcome.
But I had a great vacation, I got to do everything I wanted, and it only rained for 2 hours when I had planned to be at the hotel resting anyway. So no real complaints from me.
Thank you!!!!
