AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

....although I doubt we will actually attend MNSSHP, it'll be cool to see all the Halloween decorations.....well, most of them anyway...that's one holiday we've never experienced at WDW...

We went about the same time last year and were able to see both the Halloween and Christmas decorations. All in one trip! Not every park, but enough to satisfy. :goodvibes

I've been trying to run the numbers for an AKL stay about a year from now for my honeymoon and it keeps looking like renting DVC in Jambo House will be the most cost effective??? Is that true? Mind you I can't officially price this due to numbers not being out yet but I just want to make sure if we're going to splurge on this resort we don't blow our entire budget on the room. My number crunching is making a regular room $300-400 more expensive. That just seems like I'm screwing something up.

You are figuring correctly... if you rent DVC points. Paying cash for any reservation (rack rate) will cost more than renting points from a DVC member (unless they are charging waaay too much per point... not usually the case)!

Have fun planning! :goodvibes

By far the most cost effective.

For us, its costing $20 more than it would have been to stay at a moderate WITH a 30% discount.

Rent DVC all the way

We are staying AKV-Kidani from Aug.10th-16th, 2014. First time at the resort and we are so excited. It looks beautiful!

The was posted on DVC News yesterday:

One exclusive savanna experience previously offered only to club level guests at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas will soon expand to all Disney Vacation Club members staying at the resort.

The two hour Sunrise Safari will open up to Disney Vacation Club members staying at Animal Kingdom Villas beginning April 20, 2014.

You guys want to know why there was a policy change? I'll tell you why. It's because I just blew two years' worth of my DVC points to stay Club Level so that I could do the Sunrise Safari as well as the Wanyama Safari and Night Safari in one trip. I just got back a few days ago. If I had stayed at Animal Kingdom Villas in a regular DVC villa (not Club level), I wouldn't have been entitled to book the Sunrise Safari.

(I'm also the reason Verizon Wireless started carrying iPhones a few years ago. They had been available only on AT&T. I bought a Droid, and 2 months later the iPhone became available.)

It's like I jinx myself, to the benefit of everyone else.

So to all DVC members who plan to stay at AKV in the future -- you're welcome.

But I had a great vacation, I got to do everything I wanted, and it only rained for 2 hours when I had planned to be at the hotel resting anyway. So no real complaints from me.

I have enjoyed all the valuable info I have gained reading through all 131 pages of this thread. My son and I are excited for our first stay at the AKL in August. Question...My sons would like a view of the savannah overlooking the Zebras. What savannah room view room location would I request? Thanks in advance

Oh my goodness! That is great news (for us DVC members), but I wonder how difficult it will be to book since it's only offered 2 days/week. :confused3 More competition to get those reservations, I'm sure! ;)

Thank you, Best Aunt, for your contribution toward the changes! :thumbsup2 (I know that feeling! :rotfl:)

Lol, hilarious post, though I am glad you had a great trip.

Any idea if this would include people who are staying at AKL and Renting DVC points ??!?!? !

Had everyone on my shift last night all jealous of me and my upcoming birthday stay at AKL :goodvibes

114 days!!

Here's what I found on the Member Site:

"Rise and shine for an early-morning expedition at Disney's Animal Kingdom park, followed by a hot, hearty breakfast.

This immersive experience is exclusive to the following Guests staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge: Kilimanjaro Club Level Guests and Disney Vacation Club Members. It's a newly added Disney Vacation Club offering as part of Membership Magic—available to Members beginning April 20, 2014."

If this is truly a member "perk" (which the wording seems to indicate), then it won't be available to non-members renting points. I'm sure we'll get a definitive answer soon. :flower3:

Many many thanks for this, hrm, interesting. Would be better for us if it included renters, or if renters were also given the "perks". Guessing not, but I am still pretty pumped. This is our trial run for DVC ... bloody well hoping the addition FPs are in place by May 2nd, if so, I am thinking I have a fighting chance to get the wife to buy a used DVC 160 - 200 contract ... :) Heck, maybe even new ...

Awesome!! It seemed almost too easy or too good to be true. Thank you for the info!!

I'm so excited for you and your boys.

I believe that all of the Savanas have Zebra's. But I know for a fact that if you reserve the Arusha Savana that there are Zebra's. We prefer the Zebra Trail area of the Arusha Savana.

Read my trip report in my signiture to get more details and great pics of Zebra Trail.

Have a ball.:wave2:
