For us we are about 30 minutes closer to EWR than the NY ones... but the JFK JB terminal is wonderful! And for $500 it is worth it!

How is there such a great differnce in price? We only save as out $50 if we fly outta NY, but with the traffic and bridge tolls, it wouldn't be worth it....

Flights themselves were literally $500 less for JFK. Jersey week I guess makes ewr a lot more?

I am packing this morning, heading to an airport hotel later today for a 7am Monday morning flight. Will be checking in to Dolphin for a week of F&G!

a whole week!! That sounds lovely! We could only get away this spring for a 4 day weekend.... its never enough time!! At least we will be back to WDW in July for a longer period of time. Enjoy your week of bliss! Try one of those bacon cupcakes or the frushi at Japan! I can't wait to try them out!

....a word of advice: do not miss the awesome events at F&G show!

This is the 6th (or 7th?) year I am visiting during F&G Festival. It is evolving to truly rival F&W Festival, and I love F&GF just a little more each year!

We will be there next month (family of four), and my sister will be staying at Pop Century. Can she hang out w us at the AKL pool?

The short answer is "no". Even us DVC members who are permitted to pool hop are not allowed to hop there. However, I doubt it will be a problem. Your family are guests there, your sister is one person (not bringing a group, right?), and your sister promises she'll behave???!!! Unless they have started checking room keys (as they do at Stormalong Bay), I doubt anyone will notice.

Has anyone done the Night Safari at Kidani Village?

I'm trying to decide if it's worth asking my teens if they are interested in it. My oldest loved the Wild Africa Trek last summer.

I'm also wondering about the about the Backstage Safari at AK but that's for my next solo trip sometime later in the year.

Since we are flying there on Halloween morning that flight is quite reasonable... the flight home was our battle. I knew we needed to leave on Saturday the 8th to avoid the worst prices... but out of EWR it was ridiculous... so we bit the bullet and decided JFK was worth it!

Question for AKL veterans that I hope you can answer.

We're flying from Texas and staying club level for our June trip and will have a rental car. My dad is driving his motorcycle from NY (stoping many different times to visit family along the way). He will be meeting us at Disney but decided to stay at a different Disney resort. Would it be a problem for him to drive his motorcycle over daily and leave it at AKL and then car ride over with us most days?

Has anyone done the Night Safari at Kidani Village?

I did the Night Safari on 03/30/14. The Night Vision Goggles didn't work. I was told they are planning to get new ones. It was still fun because the animals were all sitting down, resting. The vehicle would stop right next to them. Too dark to take pictures, but light enough to see. Make sure you check the weather to see if you should wear warm clothes. The teens on my tour seemed to like it.

I did the Backstage Safari years ago. I liked most of it. I like going backstage and seeing how things work. Disney tries to add an educational element to some of these tours, and I didn't like that part. We went inside to see a short movie, as I recall. Also, when I did it, 2 of the elephants were pregnant. We spent a lot of time in the elephant barn. The smell got in my hair and my clothes! I feel sorry for people who had to sit near me on the bus back to the hotel that day.

We were originally planning on Friday 31st thru the 9th. Since has been changedto Nov 1-9.
When i saw the difference in prices i checked the 8th Saturday as my return day.
Its basically costing roughly $240 each for the 4 of us. As opposed to sunday return which would've been $348 a person. Plus I saved 18 of my dvc points for the Saturday night too.

When we were there in 2010 you had to have a hotel reservation to get past the guard and be allowed in. They will allow guest in with dining ressy's. I'm sure that if he tells the gaurd that he is visiting family and they confirm your ressy that they will allow him in. They probably aren't going to check about him leaving his bike at AKL. Just my 2cents. Have fun.

Last year we talked about going the same week and when we looked at flights we realized that we had to come back on Saturday instead of Sunday. That trip never panned out so when we booked our hotel stay with a BB we knew we'd return on Saturday. I can't get over the price difference for those two days! We are going on the 31st because we fear there won't be a MNSSHP in Nov and we really want to experience both that and MVMCP (hopefully on the 7th) - we'll see if our master plan works out!

That's why we switched to JFK - that was our price for 3 people for our dates so we were able to get $870 for 3 if we flew out of JFK. Much more reasonable!

When we stayed there we added our daughter to our reservation as a day guest and she got a parking pass and room key. They should be able to do the same thing for your sister.
