Hi all! We are excited for our stay at the AKL in May - we have booked a Savannah view room for our 4 nights. We get in pretty late on our first night so we are looking to spend the morning just relaxing in the resort and head over to AK for a bit - what time does the pool open in the morning? We'd love to do some swimming before heading to AK for lunch.

Thanks a lot!

I'm getting the same feeling about the time from MCO to AKL being a little tight. Because it's Dining with an Animal Specialist, I can't quite ask them to push it back. I guess worst comes to worse, we might be a little late?

I guess I should have clarified in my original post, The reason I asked was because in the description of CL rooms it says: Views of Arusha Savanna -- 2 Queen Beds or 1 Queen Bed and 1 Bunk Bed or 1 Queen Bed -- Sleeps up to 4. Unlike some of the other categories, there is no mention of a King Bed.

Anyone who's stayed CL know??? :confused3

We were in AKL CL last April and requested a King bed and got one. The rooms have a King bed and a little couch/love seat. The thing about the CL kings is that they're all handicap accessible, which doesn't change the room too much except the sink in the bathroom is much smaller than the regular rooms, only a single sink and no Africa map/mural on the wall. The extra room in the bathroom is just open with handrails so someone could fit a wheelchair inside. We liked the room we had, the location was good for animal viewing. :thumbsup2

Sorry, I don't know for sure (although I think King in a CL resort room is a possibility as Kings are scattered throughout the resort).

I have a suggestion though: talk to the IPO. As long as you have a confirmed reservation you can call them. They would truly be your best source of correct, reliable information! :thumbsup2

:goodvibes

I had a king CL in DVC twice, but not sure about non DVC rooms..

On the subject of King Beds ... are there any King beds in a standard view studio villa in Jambo house ?

If anyone knows. Otherwise I imagine I will just put in a room request for rooms not overlooking the roof ... we are a little worried about getting one of those ..

TIA

Not sure if I am in the right thread to ask this, but here goes. We are staying at Kidani Villas in June in a 2 bedroom lock off- standard view. Is there anything I should be asking for in terms of view?

Many thanks.

The studios have queen size beds, not king size beds.

From the DVC member website for AKV Jambo House -
Deluxe Studio
Value Accommodation, Standard View, Savanna View, Kilimanjaro Club Concierge
Sleeps up to 4
1 queen-size bed, 1 double-size sleeper sofa

I'm adding on here too! Our 1br standard view at Kidani waitlist came through for Easter! So I have the same question.

We have stayed in a studio savannah view before and I got great DIS advice to ask for 2nd floor near lobby and we got that and it was perfect. Close to bus stop doors, close to lobby, a few doors down from Community Hall.

So any advice for the standard view rooms? Unless there is something more important that I'm not thinking of, closer to the lobby would be my preference vs. far away. I saw how far away some rooms were when we were there before. In the end though, I will be loving our 2 bathrooms!

Any advice for me? We'll be at AKL in June for 2 nights in a value studio, then 3 nights in a standard 1 bedroom at Kidani.

Sent from my IPad using DisBoards.

We had a different experience in AKL CL in November: We had a King bed with no love seat or couch. And our room was not HA; it had the normal AKL bathroom.

I have read that the pool doesn't close, but then I have read others saying that it does. :confused3 I bet that you will be able to swim as early as 8am.

We like to spend our mornings on our balconey (Arusha savannah) enjoying watching all the animals going to the feed barns. Makes it very hard to get to a rope drop.

While on the site tonight I found this. Looks like you can enter the pool as early as 7am.

http://www.wdwinfo.com/news/General_Disney_News/Walt_Disney_World_resorts_to_enforce_pool_hours.htm

New rules will be in force for the pools at the Walt Disney World resorts beginning this November. Not all the pools are fenced in, so even when they are officially closed, guests are still able to swim, though there are no lifeguards overnight. Fences will be added around any pools that don't currently have them, so guests will only have access when there are lifeguards on duty. The pools will be closed from 11:00pm to 7:00am.

Thanks for this information! I'm glad that we should be able to swim a bit in the morning that day. :-) We figure we will watch the "show" on our balcony for a while and then hit the pool! Thanks again!

I believe she's trying for the 4th or 5th until the 9th... We'll see on Saturday if anything changes or not.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what time the storytelling and the campfire start this month? Are these one and the same or two separate events? Trying to figure out our arrival evening plans and would love a timeframe for this.
