AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

Hey Nettie :wave2:, Hope you are feeling better and have recovered well. Noticed on the trip list you will be at AKL the same week we are there. We are staying our first AKL DVC stay this trip and snagged a CL 1 BR…. So if the keeper of the trip list could add me and mine…. :cheer2:MickeyT and family July 25- August 1st 1BR CL :cheer2:

Hi!! We are finishing the week with a couple of days at AKL. My son always wants to spend a few days there. We had two suites booked and changed it.

Maybe we'll see you there! We'll be the family taking the Wanyama safari on Sunday! :)

I want to thank the person who posted this:

"The zebra domes contain Amarula liqueur. It's more similar in flavor to Bailey's than Kahlua."

That was super helpful. I've been on the Dis for years and I didn't know that.

I didn't do a regular quote because I was trying to work my way backwards through the thread and I didn't want to stop. But I've been reading so many posts I can't see straight any more!

:wave2: That's okay, I found your shout out! I was a bartender for several years so my mind is a steel trap for all things alcohol related, whether in food or drink form. Lol.

Uhmmmm...That would be...Younger....:cool1: B.TW prices are still a week out..I thought when I checked last time it was a week out, but it's still the same...So I still can't see prices for when we want to go...:confused3

Do you mean to tell us your loving brother still isn't sharing his DVC points with you?!!!

:rotfl:

If y'all are going to be there the first week of November (Food & Wine! ;)), maybe we (Elin & I and possibly our DH's if they choose to tag along!) will finally get to meet the infamous Kimmar!!! :thumbsup2

I was thinking the very same thing!! :goodvibes

So excited to be headed to AKL for the first time! :cool1: My DH hasn't been to WDW since he was in high school and he got to choose the resort - I didn't complain! I've been trying to catch up on this board, but have only gotten to page 45. I have a few questions that I'm hoping some of you AKL experts can help me with.

1) We're getting into MCO at 9:50 AM and have a Sanaa ressie at 12 PM - is this enough time to check in and head over to Kidani? :confused3

2) Is there an internal shuttle to get from Jambo to Kidani (see question #1)?

3) Are there any honeymoon suites in CL? It's our first time away from our three kids and I'd really like to make it special! I know that WL has 4 CL rooms that are "honeymoon rooms" - king bed, big tub, but wasn't sure if ALK does. If not, do they have any CL king bed rooms?

TIA for all your help!

1) I don't think that's enough time. Between the time it takes to disembark the plane, get through the airport, wait for DME, the commute to Disney, drop off at other resorts, get to the AKL, check in.... I mean, it might be possible if everything went smoothly but you're cutting it really close. If there were to be any delays with the flight or DME you're definitely not going to make it. I would bump the reservation back by at least an hour to give yourself some wiggle room.

2) Yes, but the walk is only about five to seven minutes.

3) I don't know about honeymoon rooms (hopefully someone else can answer). I've always had a king bed in the regular rooms so I would imagine CL would have them, too. Call and make a room request. It's not guaranteed but they do their best to accommodate.

2hrs and 10 minutes should be fine..

Remember , you won't need to go to the baggage carousel and get your bags, so basically you'll exit the plane and head right to DME. Ive never ever waited more than 5-10 minutes, and the ride to the resort is usually 30-35 minutes. So let's say 15 minutes walk from plane to DME, 10 min.wait for shuttle and 35 min. ride. Add on an extra 10 minutes for incidentals and that brings us to 1 hr n 10 minutes... which is 1 full hour b4 you'll have prior to your reservation....
Since you won't have any bags Tell them your sayhjng at Kidani and they'll drop you off there instead of Jambo... You can always check in to your room when you're done eating...Chances are , that your room is most likely not going to be ready that early anyhow.

HTH ...Have fun

Having them drop us off at Kidani if we are cutting it close is such a great idea! Although I'd love to freshen up before lunch, I booked the Dining with an Animal Specialist so I can't exactly bump it back. It's a surprise for DH, so I'm hoping to keep it a secret for as long as possible.:thumbsup2 Thank you!

I'm getting the same feeling about the time from MCO to AKL being a little tight. Because it's Dining with an Animal Specialist, I can't quite ask them to push it back. I guess worst comes to worse, we might be a little late?

I guess I should have clarified in my original post, The reason I asked was because in the description of CL rooms it says: Views of Arusha Savanna -- 2 Queen Beds or 1 Queen Bed and 1 Bunk Bed or 1 Queen Bed -- Sleeps up to 4. Unlike some of the other categories, there is no mention of a King Bed.

Anyone who's stayed CL know??? :confused3

Sorry, I don't know for sure (although I think King in a CL resort room is a possibility as Kings are scattered throughout the resort).

I have a suggestion though: talk to the IPO. As long as you have a confirmed reservation you can call them. They would truly be your best source of correct, reliable information! :thumbsup2
