AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

Thanks, Paula! :thumbsup2

I was surprised when I saw there was no freezer in #5210! Made me wonder if I'd been remembering incorrectly all these months! :confused3 My current studio has the freezer (which really works great!). :goodvibes

If you check into a Jambo DVC Studio Villa and the fridge has no freezer, if it's important to you, request AKV switch it out! ;) (Please note: the non-DVC resort room refrigerators are the little units and those will NOT have a freezer!)

:)

oh don't worry I would be wheeling myself around to reception and doing a stake out until my fridge/freezer appeared. Being on the slight side I find 'do I look like I can live without ice cream' helps lol...

I think the studio value rooms are great on DVC points. Such a shame they don't have an accessible one! But they do have a standard. Although the view is nice it was also nice to use those precious points for more nights and the viewing areas were super! I just loved the rocking chairs at Kidani. Am guessing they have these in viewing areas at Jambo also? I preferred the pool at Jambo. Less bugs!

If we decide to stretch our budget and stay in a deluxe, it will be at the AKL. However, I can't go any farther than a regular old standard room. Still worth it to stay if no view of the Savannah?

I've been reading about zebra domes for the past year. We'll be going to AKL in November. (can't get my ticker to change and can't delete it in order to start over).

Question -- does the filling contain coffee flavored alcohol? Like Kaluha?

Wow, thank you very much. Surprising given that kids love them.

That's why they like them. It helps them get through yet another stressful day with their uptight parents who are dropping so much money on Disney that they're pressuring everyone to "make this the best vacation ever -- even if it kills us!" I'm always shocked to see how many small children come staggering out of Boma, three sheets to the wind having eaten their own body weight in zebra domes. ::yes::

I ate a zebra dome once. That's how I got my user name for these boards.

We're only staying at GF for one night anyway, and the theme of our holiday this year is "do as many new things as possible". Plus, one night at AKL would never be enough ;)

Maybe I'll save up for the AKL villas!

...fair enough...:thumbsup2

I asked this question on another thread but didn't hear anything back so I'm hoping you all could help me.

We're booked for 9 days in June for a standard club level room in Jambo House. We last stayed at AKL in May of 2007 and we had a savannah view room and loved it. However, we decided that trip that we loved exploring the resort and appreciating everything it had to offer the view wasn't a necessity for us. Now that we're booked for Juneo I'm curious, what kind of view should I expect to have for standard club level? Is it the parking lot?

Thanks for the help.

I think the confusion is over the word "standard". It means you will have a standard resort room, NOT a standard view! Club Level is a guaranteed savannah view. You will likely be in the first pod of rooms off the lobby on either Kudu or Zebra Trails -- occasionally, rooms are in the 2nd pod -- still close to lobby -- and all have Arusha Savannah view. Enjoy! :goodvibes

Just stopping in to say hello and ask if I could be added to the AKL trip list pahleeease!!!!! :goodvibes - Officially booked today! Going back for year 3 at AKL! Booked a pool view @ Jambo (:beach:) May 20th - May 28th.

Question?

I'm looking at the Savanna view for 9/25-9/27 via pin code.
For some reason, they're showing 9/25 room night cost at $369.75 and 9/26 $273. Why the huge difference? Is there a holiday around that time that I don't know about? I mean, that's staggering...

No holiday - I'd suggest you call DRC. The huge difference is probably because the PIN code is not available for that room type on 9/25. :confused3

Wow! Thanks. We were really after the location being close to the lobby, restaurants and pool. Having a savannah view is a perk.

Thank you so much for the quick response.

So lame! The PIN said it's valid most nights from 8/17-9/27. If this is how the pin will work, I might as well nix the idea. Gah.

7 more days until I am soaking up the sun on my Savannah view balcony. Most importantly I will be out of the miserable Polar vortex weather :goodvibes

There could be a race that day, Disney does a lot of mini marathons during the year, and they're insanely popular.

Does Mara still have their wonderful Chocolate Croissants? We had them most every morning when there in 2010.
