Wow the sunset savanna sounds much more exciting than when I stayed on it last year.

It really is a great savanna now that Kidani is open. :thumbsup2

And wait until you eat at Sanaa! Get a window table; you won't believe how close the animals are!!! :yay:

...I'm not following your line of thinking - do you just really want to see animals?? You know, of course, that there are PLENTY of 'public' viewing locatioons for that...also, how long will you be staying at AKL??

We are staying for 8 nights. And yes, I like animals. :goodvibes I'm just not sure I want to spend time looking at the parking lot, or buses, or the roof.

Hi! We'll be staying at the AKL Jambo for a first time as DVC members. We are booked Standard View, hopefully pool, not Savannah. Do all the DVC rooms have balconies, also any other recommendations for a first timer, would be appreciated! :goodvibes My three kiddos are so excited! Are there pool activities similar to the ones at the BC?

Hi there,

If you booked standard at Jambo you will have a pool view. And I believe all the rooms have balconies, and all DVC rooms are located on the 5th floor. Someone else should be able to answer the pool activities question. :goodvibes

And welcome back Laura - where are the pictures?! :surfweb::lmao:

Since everyone is talking about the newest view....We had a view of Kidani on our visit in may (upgraded from standard view!!) and it was amazing!! This is why i'm hesitant to request a specific area you can't really go wrong!! The only savannah that seems a little less nice than the others is the small area off the lobby, anyone have any experience

Here's the old sign, which is now by the entrance to the new guard shack (I was on the Magical Express when I took these 2 pictures!):

And the new sign (where the old one used to be!):

Another question for the AKL pros--

We decided to upgrade from a standard view to a pool view for our anniversary trip so that we aren't stuck looking at a parking lot. I called our AAA TA this morning and gave her the go-ahead. She called back to report that she had just upgraded us to a pool-view room...with bunkbeds! Now we'll get to spend our time looking at empty bunkbeds that remind us of our AKL-loving kids that we left behind!:lmao: I even asked the TA is we could switch back to a standard, as a regular pool-view wasn't available any more. She said that she couldn't switch it back.

So...what are the odds that we might be given a non-bunk bed room? We arrive at MCO at 10am. and are using ME. I have read many threads about parents trying hard to wind up with bunk beds. I plan on requesting a non-bunk bed room ever-so-sweetly!

What do you think?
I wanted to book a pool view room, too, but all I could get would be bunk beds! My college-age D wasn't too keen on that idea, so I booked standard!

Good luck with your request!

Just a quick hello and a quick question. We will be at AKL:yay: the end of July. My Ds and Dil, who live in Tampa plan to drive over one day of our stay and have a meal with us at the lodge.

I can't remember how long the resorts allow you to park while either dining or having a look around. It seems to me like 2-3 hours. If its that short I may have them park at a store parking lot on 192 and shuttle them back and forth myself.

Does anyone know the time limit and how strickly its enforced? They are also Fl AP holders if it would help to show the gate guard that.

Thanks!
I think the resort time limit is really for those resorts on the monorail and within walking distance of Epcot. I don't think they'll have a problem.

Yup, you are confused!! The "old" AKL sign is now out on the 4-lane road (Osceola Pkwy??), where you go through the new Guard House area. Once you pass through Security, the JAMBO sign is where the old sign used to be -- you would turn right at that sign to get into AKL (and once on that street, you would see the old guard shack which is empty and gates have been removed).

If you were going to Kidani, rather than turning right at the JAMBO sign, you would just continue straight and eventually dead-end at the new resort!

I'm sure this probably confused you further!! Sorry!

RachelTori -- Welcome Back!!! And thanks for the Zebra Domes and the photos! Can't wait to hear about your trip to both AKL & Kidani.:yay:

I am torn between the two different rooms types. Both are avail during our stay, of course, my points are saying...stay at the value but will I be missing something from the 1 bedroom (other than the sleeper chair?) Anyone can share pics? Are rooms different? How about location, what type of views can be expected from us? Would appreciate if you can share some insight here. I need to make a decision by tonite :goodvibes

Hi everyone! :wave2:

Sorry for my absence!

I was wondering. I know I can sneak a couple of extra plastic forks and spoons from the Mara to help with any snacks/leftovers we might have in the room. BUT can I take/ask for a few paper plates/bowls?

I don't want to go unprepared!

I think the view for the Jambo Value Villa can be either parking lot, savanna or pool, while all Jambo Standard View Villas are pool view. The value villas are all located on OStrich and Giraffe Trail, so close to the front of JAmbo House.

I think you would not have any problem, especially if you ask when you buy something on a plate to get an additional one (e.g. for sharing or so)

Where are the rooms for families of 5 situated?

These rooms have been converted into villas which can be rented as Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas at Jambo House. Sorry.

...if you only ask for 2 or 3, I don't see why not...

Hi everyone!! :wave2:
Just trying to catch up on the thread...which is near impossible because of how long I've been away! :scared: :goodvibes
