PracPerfPatricia - I'm glad you weren't hurt more than you were. Your poor family - I'm sure that had to be terrifying.
Hope everyone has a great 4th - we have season passes to nearby Hershey Park, but assume it will be packed, so we're going to a friend's house for a cook out. My husband is Greek and so are they so they told us the 15 types of meat they will be serving. I'm curious if there will be any vegetables at all - maybe it will be like the all-you-can-eat-meat fest at Ohana.
I feel better but the "injured area" is still healing thanks. We love

I was wondering since AKL is so far out does everyone eat at Boma's alot. I was wondering about this and thinking if I should upgrade to the deluxe dining plan. I have been on the dining plan before but never the deluxe. I do perfer to have a sit down meal. I have read that the Mara isn't that great. So if you have to eat at Boma all the time. I will be traveling alone this time with my two kids 8 & 6. I really didn't want to travel for every meal if we are not at a park. What do other people do staying at the AKL? Thank you for your help in this matter.
Emma
It depends on what you call "a lot".
Usually, we eat there 3 times a trip: 2 dinners (one on arrival day, one later in the trip) and one breakfast.
This time, only twice (we're doing Saana on arrival day, instead).
But we tend to make our dining plans around the parks we plan to be in...so we typically eat either in the park, or in a resort somewhere close to/connected to the park we're going to be in that day.

I probably only eat at Boma once per trip. I normally plan my meals based upon the park that I will be at and make my ADR for a TS place either in the park or near it.

We are going in I think 42 day-OMG-

Emma-others have already give some good advice about eating at/near the park you are going to be that day-I can only add my agreement...
(I also like to have the option of eating at my resort-it's just really relaxing-which is another reason to choose AKL-the food is really good...)
we have ressies for a dinner at Boma, a dinner at Jiko, we'll probably grab at dinner at Mara one night, & while we don't have a dinner at Saana- I'd like to have lunch there our last day...hhhmmm-wonder if I should make ressies for that...

anyhow... also have a Breakfast at Tusker House in the AK and a dinner at Yak & Yeti there because they are close by...(5 minute bus ride)
We know one night we want to go to DTD so I also made a dinner ressie at Raglan Road and one night we are going to be taking a pirates wishes cruise that leaves from the Contemporary's marina so we are going to try the Wave there...
I do agree that AKL is a little further (especially from MK) which is also one of the things that is appealing-you get that away from it all feeling...but if you are traveling alone with your kids it can get tiring to travel around a lot amd there are many nice relaxing activities to do at the Lodge in the evenings so...
a couple of dinners at Boma is doable-it is very good with some menu rotation and lots of choices...
Sanaa has gotten raves...
Jiko is great but 2 TS-don't know if you want that...
and Mara is by far and away one of the nicer CS places at any of the WDW resorts and earlier on this thread there were some nice photos of the food service by pool at Kidani and it also looked nice...

You can also do your bigger meals at Lunch-and schedule TS ressies in the park you'll be in that day...
Good luck-you are sure to have an awesome time whatever way you choose to dine...
