Tracy, I just posted on your other thread, but wanted to say here as well how sorry I am!

I'm going to throw us a bit off topic in a somber way for a minute (but I know that's what my Jambo friends are for.)
Many of you knew that my DMIL, 312.Duck's mom, (who've you've all seen in our pictures) was suddenly stricken with a rare form of cancer two months ago.
I'm sorry to say that my DMIL lost her battle early this morning. She passed away at home, gracefully, without pain, in her sleep. She gave me a lot of my love for Disney and we've never been on a trip without her- I'm extremely glad that she and DFIL were the first to accompany us to our AKV DVC that we bought and used for the first time last year....we will be going back in September as planned as an honor to her. I'm only so very sorry that she will not be with us as she was so looking forward to staying at the Grand Floridian for the first time.
Thanks for being there gang!
Tracy

Tracy,
I am so sorry to hear of your family's loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
You have been blessed with loving in-laws and I know you will always cherish the wonderful memories you have. May you, your DH, and DFIL take comfort in the fact that your Dear MIL is at peace and will live forever in your hearts.![]()
Oh Tracy...I'm so sorry. Your family will be in my prayers during this time.
Through your TR, she was like an honorary DISer as we all got to know her. I'm so glad you were able to share all that time with her on your last trip.![]()
Hi Everyone,
I am fairly new to this thread, but have been lurking around for quite sometime as I decide if I want to stay at AKL for the very first time.
I just wanted to say,I am so very sorry Tracy for you and your familys loss, please know that your MIL will forever be in your hearts, I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Congratulations! What a great plan!
I guess it depends upon where you are staying as to what you might want to do. If you are staying AKL, you probably want to leave a lot of time to just enjoy the grounds, and just do Epcot.
Leanne, your trip sounds GREAT!!!!!!!!!CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Where are you thinking about staying those two nights?
If it were just me and a girlfriend, I would probably choose Epcot or AK. If my little man was with, MK all the way.![]()
How exciting! I would stay in Epcot for the whole time I was there during the F&W Festival. You have been to WDW before and your friend will have too. Unless there is some reason you need to go to another park, I say enjoy the offerings at F&W! And, if you pick the right resort there is no need to go anywhere other than those two places, either.![]()

I would love to stay at AKL, but we might end up at an Epcot resort since we'll probably be spending our one day there. I want to drag my friends over to Boma for dinner, but they are already talking about all the restaurants Epcot has to offer so I might be outvoted!
It seems weird not going to MK, but I think we'll have a lot of fun at Epcot. I'm excited to go to the Food and Wine festival! Last night I went to dinner with my three friends who will be going on the trip and we discussed where to stay. We're leaning towards an Epcot resort since we'll be spending time there. But they are pricey!!!!I'll be on the lookout for discounts, but we may end up at a mod - which is fine with me!
I gotta say, I am SO tempted to get a park hopper and try to hit the highlights of all the parks - but I'd probably spend more time on busses than anything else! Crazy!
So, which resort would you suggest?I haven't stayed at any of the resorts near Epcot. I wonder which moderates are closest to Epcot? I'll have to pull out my trusty Unofficial Guide!

or,
2) Rent points on the DVC board and stay at the Boardwalk Villas or the Beach Club Villas. Points run about $10 a point and you can get 4 people in a Studio, or in a 1 bedroom. Depending on your dates, you might be able to get quite a deal and have a very nice room for less than a hotel room!
....my DS and his GF stayed there for almost 2 weeks the end of May and they didn't care for it...her parents are DVC owners and they've stayed at SSR, BW, OKW, and BCV and they loved the BCV the best...my DS said that Mousekeeping wasn't up to par - they only came mebbe 3 times during their whole stay -11 days!- and had to keep calling to get fresh towels....he also mentioned that the transportation was a pain too.....
Kim - if they were staying on DVC points Housekeeping would only have come 3 times and fresh towels only come then too. I guess DVC figures members can wash their own towels and tidy up after themselves with the W&D and vacuum in the units. Now... if you want those services more often you can have them. For a price.
And, get this... if you pay cash for those same units (reserved directly from CRO you get daily service, I do believe)

That was the case when we stayed there in '03. We paid cash (they were running the 7 for 4 promo) and we had mousekeeping every day; they even ran the dishwasher for us!
Hey all...
Has anyone had a cake relatively recently at the Lodge? DS will be celebrating his 7th BD a week before we arrive at AKL and I'd really like to have a cake for him...
I know I've read somewhere through this thread about people having cakes, I don't know if anyone has gotten one recently though...
I remember seeing a really gorgeous tray that had cookies and chocolate animals but then read that it was no longer offered...& since he's a little guy a cake would be more special to him than a tray of zds-although I wouldn't say no to them...
The Bakery at the Grand Floridian can do pretty much anything...but I don't know about AKL...
I'd want it delivered either to the room or the 2nd night we have a ressie at Jiko-and we could have it there only since we have the DDP-we'd be getting desert but since we'd be there it would be easy to take bake to the room...
suggestions? experiences?
