We are considering Animal Kingdom Lodge for early January and I'd love opinions about the construction, views, etc.

I just started reading this thread again and wow! It seems a mess over there.

Is the construction going to continue to impact Concierge?

Will it be 'over' by the first of the year?

I'd appreciate any news and opinions from recent guests and anyone else with thoughts and views!:thumbsup2

We have a ressie for the AKV for the end of January in a studio room. I can't wait to see the new DVC rooms. I've stayed at the regular AKL several times before. AKL is not my favorite resort, but since the points were really low for our stay, I thought we'd give it a try.

I booked a couple of weeks ago for marathon weekend (so staying Jan 10-17th)and was told that the construction in the lodge itself was going to be finished BUT there would still be noise around the villas.

What that really means I don't know as I don't know where on the property they are building the villas - can anyone post a map or pinpoint a more precise location? I've got to run 39 miles that weekend - I'm going to need naptime as much as than the average 3 year old!!!

Keep in mind, though, the construction timetables listed in that are "off"...things seem to be going quicker.

Concierge and lobby rooms are being converted now (5th and 6th floor) and will be ready by early December (not May, as reported in teh above map).

So there MIGHT be some construction left to do come January (possibly Kudo trail...though reports are that they're speeding things up, so that might be done, too), but MOST of the interior should be finished.

I'd expect them to be working, in earnest, on Kidani Village (the new building) by then, too.

Thanks! That is a great diagram and map!
