AKL Experts Help Me Plan My Trip

Hello All,

Our family is planning a trip to Disney in April 08 and need advice from my Animal Kingdom Lodge friends.

We're booked on a 4 day Wonder cruise and would like to stay 2 nights pre-cruise at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I visited the DVC member homepage but may have missed some info. I will not be using points for the 2 night AKL stay. Have never stayed nor visited AKL. Is the entire resort being converted to DVC villas? Will there be what I would term "regular" hotel type rooms at AKL or is the most basic unit at the resort going to be a studio? We're a family of 5 traveling with my sister (family of 4) and brother (family of 5) and are looking for savannah views but not a full kitchen in the 1 BR units. Looking for your advice as we seek to finalize our plans.

The 6th floor and most of the 5th floor are being converted to DVC villas. The rest of the building is remaining regular hotel room. In addition, a second building is being build on the other side of the savannah that is totally DVC.
