AKL DVC First timer renting points-advise

I need advise from anyone who has rented points. This will be our first time and I don't want anything to go wrong. We are bringing a mom and her 3 kids with us that have never been (they lost their father a few years ago) and I really want this to be special. We're going 1/27-2/1.

Normally we stay at POR. We love this resort but have always wanted to stay at AKL. By renting points, it's more affordable to stay there.

Would you recommend I get the value, standard or savannah view? I have had people pm with a point price but what they are asking for each point would make the savannah view a little harder to do. But I don't want a parking lot view either. Do they ever upgrade DVC to a Savannah view?

You need to read the FAQs on the Rent/Trade board.

Also DVC does not upgrade, you get what you book, unless there is a maintenance issue that takes a room out of service, and they have to move you. That rarely happens though.

The value rooms are smaller than the standard and savannah rooms.

Is there availability? I know that I am going there the week before your trip and DVC is 100% booked. Since it is so new and only prtially built it has a huge demand so if there is availability you may not have much of a choice. From what I understand both value and standard *may* have a savannah view but only the SV is guaranteed.
