We're going to the AKL late in Sept -- our first forray into a Deluxe hotel here. I just started seeing some into on concierge, but know little or nothing about it.

Can someone tell me some basic info about the service, as well as the difference in cost and whether it's worth it or not?

This link will get you a lot of answers about the various services they provide. It's generally about $100/night more expensive than a savannah view room.

We love AKL concierge..it is fantastic.

The offerings are wonderful, the people are wonderful.

We didn't need them to make any reservations or anything for us..as we had it all done in advance..we just enjoyed the lounge and visiting with castmembers there.

See if you can book this:

AKL Sunset Safari (these pics are from when we stayed in January)

Last year we stayed AKL concierge for our honeymoon during the end of September. We didn't make ANY PS's beforehand...concierge was able to make us PS for whenever. I think the ONLY one they couldn't get was the California Grill. (but otherwise, we were able to make same day PS's either on our own or with them...being that it's "slow time" at the parks)

We also did the SunRISE safari...much more affordable then the Sunset one (and kids can go on this one) Great experience!

DH and I REALLY enjoy the AKL...can't wait to go back in December! :)

I wasn't a huge fan of the service in the AKL concierge. The perks are the options for the safaris, but I wasn't happy. Poor food service and somewhat of an attitude that I've never experienced at any other DW resort.

Don't get me wrong...I loved the resort itself and Jikoe and Boma were awesome...but the service in the concierge left me wondering why I paid so much more.

Hmmmm, I found the exact opposite to be the case. I was most pleasantly surprised by the concierge staff, extremely pleasant and accommodating. I was so impressed by their professionalism that I've been counting the days until I could go back! I am very much looking forward to my return trip in a couple of weeks.

While I liked AKL conceirge I doubt I would do it often. Found the staff to be excellant & the safari was amazing. But we spent much more time at the resort and much less at the parks. I go to disney for the parks..not the hotels. If I want to go a hotel to be pampered I'll go to a resort at an island. Don't get me wrong I like the deluxes..but I think the concierge is a waste of money at WDW.. But at least AKL does offer some "perks" JMHO

We don't usually stay concierge because we just don't believe we benefit enough for the additional costs. However, on our trip at the end of June we stayed concierge at AKL because we wanted to take the safaris. We enjoyed our stay very much. The lounge was lovely, very relaxing. The snacks were plentiful and delicious, although they did not vary from day to day. The staff was very friendly and they went out of their way to accommodate any request. The real perk was being able to take the sunrise and Wayjamma (spelling?) safaris. If you stay concierge, don't miss out on that opportunity. All in all, we enjoyed our foray into concierge and felt very spoiled. However, next year it's back to the POLY for us and we do not plan to stay concierge. Our favorite building is Tahiti.

Hi Dena-

When are you staying AKL Concierge in Sept? We (Me, DBF, DD2)will b staying there Sept 22-29. This will be our first time there also.

Thanks everyone for the info. It's definitely made me excited to stay at AKL! We decided not to go concierge this time, though -- since we've already done all of PSs and purchased our tickets, plus we are the type to spend 95% of our time at the parks, open to close, so I'm not sure it'd be worth the extra nearly $1K to do it! It'll be great for us just to be at a deluxe hotel!

We're going to be there Sept 26 - Oct 3 and are going to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on Oct. 1.

CAN'T WAIT! My kids (9 & 6) have been to WDW once, and that trip we stayed off property. They're in for quite a trip!
