AKL Concierge; tell me all about it!!

We're staying AKL-Conc in December. We have we not stayed at AKL before. I'd love to hear about the resort and the concierge benefit, lounge, ect....

Hi. We were at AKL during Easter week, stayed on CL. It was wonderful! The lounge is spacious and comfortable and looks out onto the huge lobby. The offerings wer delicious, plentiful, and one night the appetizers were so abundant , my DH were'nt really that hungry for our dinner at JIKO! They have a cappacino machine , which was awesome! And one night they had one of the chefs from Boma come up and cook some goodies for us at the lounge. The staff was extremely helpful in getting me some hard-to-get ressies at JIKO and Chef Mickeys, The turndown service was great. It was nice to come back to your room and finding the bed turned down, your robes ready, the whole room freshened up. Did not do the safari this trip (just didnt have the time). I would go back to AKL in a NY minute. I just dont know if I could stay anywhere else but concierge, I think I've been spoiled!!

What is the price range for concierge (approximations are fine)?? Just wondering. Because being a FL. resident I get great prices on Savannah view during Value season. But I am thinking for my husband's b.day--concierge might be nice due to the fact he would rather hang out at the hotel as opposed to going to the parks (we have AP's and go tons--he only goes when forced!!!).

gassmandy, I just checked allearsnet for pricing at AKL. During the week that we went , the rack rate for CL was $480, but I know I didn't pay that much due to the code that I used. I called and called 2x a week up until 3 weeks before we left and I ended up getting the CL room for around $300 (I dont remember the exact amount) I think (and I'm not sure) that maybe Disney waits as long as they can and then they give certain rooms away at lower prices just to fill the space (??) I dont know, but I was happy with my deal.

Do the Sunrise Safari! This is a perk only available to AK consierge guests. You get to go out in the Kilimanjaro Safari vehicles with a limeted number of people before the park opens. The animals have just been let out at this time and they are very active. The driver with stop at any point for as long as you want to take pictures and, in place of the normal radio plot line, each vehicle has an one of the animal handlers on board who can answer just about any question about the animals you see. Afterwards, a chef prepares a delicious and HUGE breakfast buffet.

We did this last time we went, in fact its the reason we stayed AK Consierge. It was fantasic and we cant wait to do it again. Its a bit pricey and you have to get up early, but its worth it. BTW: Book early. There are limeted number of seats and it fills up fast. We plan to book ours 90 days out this year.

The sunrise safari is well worth it. We spent an hour and fifteen minutes on the safari ride (normally a fast ten minute ride during normal hours). The concierges were able to get us into CRT with less than two weeks notice. Food is great and the lounge is a good place for the kids to hang out and still be somewhat contained. There's an abundance of fresh fruit in the morning - a savings of about $30 for a family of five considering the fruit cups in the ala carte restaurant is around $6 each. Another savings of $50 over getting the refillable drink cups for beverages. If you use the concierge and the lounge, we found it well worth the investment (of course, we had the 7 for 4 package which brought the price differential down to something like $40 a day over savanah view).

AKL CL is one of my favorites!

They have top-notch CMs and their IPO is wonderful~!
