My DH and I spent a wonderful week at WDW 12/5-12/12. We stayed 3 nights at AKL in a savannah view room, 5th floor, concierge. We were totally blown away by the AKL. From the moment we checked in to the day of departure we were walking on cloud nine. "George", our bellhop brought us directly from the valet parking area to our room, but first he gave us a tour of the hotel. He was in no hurry and he let me stop and gawk at all the wonderful sights. After we were settled in our room, we checked in with Susan in the conceirge lounge and enjoyed a glass of wine while she got everything situated for us. We loved the hotel so much, we came back early from the parks to hang out at the hotel. We read every thing there was to read about the different African artifacts, we swam in the relaxing pool, sat in the hot tub, listened to the storyteller aroung the fire-pit, and just sat on our balcony and watched the animals. Every CM we encountered was helpful and beyond courteous. We took the sunrise safari on Saturday morning and ate at Jiko one night. We encountered zero transportation problems and although we had a rental car, we found the busses to be much more convenient. I would highly recommend AKL and look forward to our next visit.
Sadly, we had to check out and move to the Poly for our remaining four nights. I wanted to stay at AKL, but I was ready for our next adventure at the Poly. My DH and I had never even stepped foot in the Poly and once again were blown away by the theming and location of the resort. We had a lagoon view room in tahiti and found the location and view perfect. We were just a short walk to the TTC and although we had a small walk to the longhouse, it is such a beautiful walk we enjoyed it every time. We took advantage of all the offerings of the resort. Had dinner at 'Ohana, breakfast at Kona Cafe, rented water mouse boats and spent an afternoon in the volcano pool (It has the coolest slide!) At night we would venture to the private beach in front of tahiti, lay in the hammock and replay our day. Overall I give both resorts a perfect 10!!!!
