I've never been here before and just made reservations. Can you please tell me what it is like? What princesses are there? What type of food and how is it served (plated/buffet?).
Also appreciate your thoughts about it. Did you have a good experience?

I have always liked the food. We have been at lunch and dinner (total of 3 times so far). My DD12 likes it as we have always found her favorite princess, Ariel, there. We are going again for lunch just after Thanksgiving. :goodvibes

In the hallway, you take a picture with one of the princesses (we have been with Belle and Sleeping Beauty). The picture package is included in the meal price I believe. It is kind of dim inside but the architecture is very castle-like with pillars, stone, dark wood, etc.

They have an appetizer buffet of cheeses, meats and salad. You order off of the menu and the plates are individual. I don't remember the different meals I've had in the past but they were all just fine. For dessert, you get a plate with a couple different desserts to be shared. I personally really like the rice cream dessert.

I would recommend it and find the food better than you find at Cinderella's Royal Table....but if you want to see Cinderella you won't find her at Akershus.

Have a good time.

They typically have 5 princesses and you never know exaclty who they will be. We saw Alice ( From Wonderland) one year and the next year we saw Cinderella there. But, Cinderella typicall is not there ??

It seems like both years we went that Ariel, Belle, Jasmine and Aurora were there. Belle seems to be the main princess who is always there. THey will take your photos with her and bring a copy to your table. The photo is included ( no extra charge!!)

THe food is good and they have a small but nice selection. It is in a castle like settting. It was a great experience the 2Xs we went...we loved it!

Enjoy!:tinker:

I have seen all of the above princesses you mention, but never Cinderella. I have heard that she does make appearances, but it's not to be counted on. It's cool that you saw Cinderella there. I have had to pay CRT prices and don't ever want to again. I personally love Belle and DD loves Ariel so we are always happy

We got to see Cindy at Akershus! (no my son is not a drag queen, we couldn't get the makeup to come off from Pirate's League!)

It was 30 degrees out, so hence the gloves and jacket on her...

Let me know if you want to see the other pictures...

We have been there twice for breakfast. In 2009, Belle was the princess at the entrance that posed for the photo package that is included. Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White, and Ariel came to the table. This year, Aurora posed for the photo package and Cinderella, Snow White, Jasmine and Ariel came to the table. I know that they say that Cinderella isn't usually there, but we have seen her there both times. The food at breakfast is very good. It is served family style and there is a pastry/fruit/cheese buffet.

I think you have all the info you need now but I just wanted to add that I really liked this Princess dinner here when we went. I felt it was a much more intimate setting compared to some of the others. Check out the menu online as it is a bit different.

We preferred Akershus to CRT. We had a lot more time with Cinderella at Akershus. She came to the table and spent quite a bit of time with my DD, as opposed to the three-second photo op at CRT. The meal as a whole felt less rushed as well. Our picture was with Belle, and our princesses at the table were Ariel, Cinderella, Aurora, and Mary Poppins. We loved the food, and we have a lunch ADR for our November trip as well. My DD is very excited to go back again and didn't even ask for CRT.

We've eaten there several times and Belle has always been the "picture" princess for us. We have also seen Cinderella there, as well as all the others. Actually, this is one of my favorite places to eat, though we've never had breakfast, only lunch and dinner. I enjoy the buffet options as well as the menu options. The chocolate trio dessert is also very good. The service has always been great and we enjoy talking to the CMs about Norwegian food. One of us did order the salmon burger once and it was undercooked. They not only brought us a new one, cooked to perfection, but another entree entirely for us to try. We look forward to going there and it's DD's favorite "princess" meal since they dont' rush by the table like at CRT. They take time for pictures, autographs and talking some.

I think you will enjoy, we always do!

Oh...and Voss water, we love Voss!! :)

Thanks for all the great replies. I realized (too late) that I posted this on the wrong board so I really appreciate the responses.

I'm officially excited to go here now! My daughter is a princess fantatic even though she's all grown up. She grew up with Disney and has loved princesses since she was a little girl. She still loves getting her picture taken with them, so this will be a lot of fun. We'll be there for breakfast.

We've also got ADRs for Chef Mickey, Ohana and Le Cellier. She hasn't been to WDW for about 10 years so it'll be great. She's running in the Disney Princess Marathon!

We have done breakfast there twice and will be doing it again this year. We love it and DD loves seeing all of the princesses. Of course we do CRT also, so we get to see them twice and different ones at each location. Love not having to stand in line to see them.

Congrats to your DD on running the Princess 1/2. I hope she really enjoys herself.

I'm going to be in Disney World for 13 days beginning December 1st. I preferred Akershus to CRT too. You see all the Princesses but don't have to spend 2 table service credits. I have been to CRT 2 times and that was enough for me. Food is much better at Akershus then CRT plus the service is better. I'm doing Chef Mickeys for the first time this trip along with a few others. Le Cellier is amazing we went last December but decided not to this December.

We are going here for lunch on our trip next month. I can't find one thing on the menu that sounds good but I know my kids will love the princesses here. I was really hoping for a breakfast reservation but the lunch was the only time available in the 10 days we are going to be there. I hope I don't leave there starving!! :(

Keep searching on line. You never know when something opens up.

I will have to go through my pics to tell you for sure, but I think we saw Cinderella both times.

My husband swears that the Cinderella we saw at Akershus in spring 2007 was Alice at 1900 Park Fair in Winter 2008. I am not as sure, but Alice was going through my DD autograph book and said how beautiful Cinderella was. My husband was sitting next to her and swears it was the same girl. The pictures look very similar, but I kind of thought that was the point.

I think Akershus is worth it. We have been twice now. I like the fish in the appetizer thing the best. And the desserts were good. I don't think DH and I liked out entrees the last time, but it was a horrible day at the end of a horrible trip, so I don't know if it was the food or our moods.

We have eaten here for all 3 meals. We thought that lunch was good--they had some unusual things on the menu, but some normal things as well. You should be fine! Although dinner has definitely been our fav of the 3.

And most times that we have eaten here, Cinderella has been among our characters! :)

We just ate there on 10/14... I thought the breakfast selection was slacking in the food department... but in the princess front is was quite nice!!

Check out my pics from it (first few pages): http://family.webshots.com/album/578822083khedhn

We are going the first time in December so I am loving all the info. Is the picture included when you do the dining plan or do you have to pay extra for it?

What is the appetizer bar like for dinner? Is it similar to a traditional salad bar?

Thanks!

I just snagged a reservation for our November trip for breakfast. I am so excited! It will be our first time at Akershus and I am sure that my daughter is going to be beside herself. I am going to surprise her, so it will make it that much better!
