Admitedly, I have not been to either, but I'm posting second-hand info from a mom in DD's dance class who just got back from Disney.
This was their first time ever in the parks, so they ended up going to both the Castle for breakfast at CRT and the princess lunch at Akershus. She said that, hands down, she would recommend Akershus over CRT. First, the food was great. But, moreover, the kids had more time with the princesses than they did at CRT. She said that Cindy came by for only a few seconds at each table and then left. She didn't even sign their autograph books, but instead passed out a separate piece of paper with her "autograph." No time for talking to the kids or getting pictures. Total waste of $, in her opinion. Now, the princesses at Akershus were totally different and spent time with the kids, talked to them, posed for photos, and signed books. Maybe other had different experiences with the characters at CRT. I realize that the location matters to some people, but since my DD is young enough to not even know that CRT exists, I think she'd like the interaction better than eating in the castle.
