AK Sunrise or Sunset Tour? Which is better?

I am thinking of staying at AKL concierge so I can do one of the exclusive tours. Which is a better tour. I will be going the first week in December.

Opinions? Reviews?

we did the sunrise tour 3 weeks ago....... oh my it was wonderful!!!! we woke at 6:00 am and then met in the concierge lounge to check in then had a bite to eat at 7:10 we had to meet at the sunset lounge on the 3rd floor we were divided into 2 groups and off we go...... they took us in the back way because the park is closed to all other guests..... we saw where they keep the animals at night and our guide was great!!! she was so informative..... we borded the safari and she stopped at all of the animals so we can stand up and get good pictures...and video...... then after the 45 min. safari we ate in a private room at tusker house..... the food........ all of it was awsome!!! i really loved the fried french toast i think it was soaked in bananas or something but wow i never had that before it was delicious!!!! and i did not know this but they give you a fast pass to get back on kilamajaro safari later that day so you can see the difference between the 2...... it deffinatly was an experience!!! my kids loved it too..... vicki

I would recommend early morning. I volunteer at our local zoo on the weekends, and find that many animals are more active early in the day, so you'll probably be able to see more. Since you're going in December, you probably won't have the afternoon heat to worry about (animals, like humans, seek shade when it's that hot, so they're hard to spot). But early morning is probably the best, IMO.

We have done both and they are unique in their own ways. On the Sunrise it was great to be able to stop and not be racing thru trying to take pictures. Watching the animals going to "work" was interesting.The breakfast following was great.

The Sunset offered a different view of the AKL, going around looking at the hotel from the animals perspective.With the small size of the group it made it easy to ask questions about the AKL and the animals in the savanna. We only had one other couple with us , I thimk the max is 8. Dinner at Jiko was great being able to have a taste of many things on the menu and having the dishes explained to us by the chef.

The biggest difference is price. We are taking the Sunset in 31 days and we can't wait.

We did the sunset tour last year and enjoyed it thoroughly. You and your small group (we had six but I believe the tour can do up to 8) get an up close and personal tour of the animal kingdom savannahs and facilities courtesy of one of the animal caregivers. You get some great photo opportunities with the animals and have a fun stop at the end which includes a great photo taken of you with the giraffes.

Following the tour is a chef's tasting dinner at Jiko that was just fabulous.

It was an exciting evening for us and we'd recommend it highly!

There is an age limit but because we booked the entire safari (party of eight) then my 5 year old is allowed to come because no one in the party would object to the child being there since we are all his family. Another friend of mine did this too enabling her two nieces to be able to go. I think they're around 8 and 10.
