I remember reading here that there is one day, Wednesday? that they do not do procedures at Rafiki's Planet Watch. I thought I bookmarked the information but can't find it now. Just want to make sure our AK day is not that day. Does anyone know if this is right, that there is one day when procedures are not scheduled? What day is it?

I do know that procedures are scheduled for first thing in the morning so we plan to go there first.
Thanks!

We go to WDW every year during Memorial day weekend (SWW) and following week, which always puts us at AK on Wednesday. Last summer on Wednesday it was business as usual. Is what you are referring (no procedure on Wednesday)to something new? If so I am glad you posted the question because DN will be with us on this trip so the heads up would be great.

I have never been to RPW, so I am unsure if it's new. I just remember reading information somewhere that there was one day a week that nothing was scheduled, only emergencies if necessary. I thought it was Wednesday but can't find the info anymore. Thought I saved it but I guess not. That's why I posted. I figured someone would know as I was sure I read it here on the DIS. Anyway, just wanted to make sure it wasn't the day we picked for AK as we thought we'd try to catch it this time.

Wednesdays are no procedure days, at least that is what I was told when I showed up on Feb. 26th. right when RPW opened.

What is this procedure thing that you are talking about? Is this where you ride the train out? We did that last year and they had everything closed off. All we got to do was get our picture made with Rafiki. We did the train ride many years ago and it was like a petting zoo where you could go in and feed the animals. Has it changed?

I'm curious too I thought it was just a petting zoo basically?

When I was at AK in February this year, they told me they don't do vet procedures on Wednesdays. I was so disappointed - that was the day I was there, of course!

I ended up going back the next day, and unfortunately didn't time it right that day, either. It's always chancy - they don't have a strict schedule, so it's basically the luck of the draw.

I have not been, but have been doing my research for my trip. I have found that the following are at Rafiki's Planet Watch:
Conservation Station - where the vet clinic is located and if a "procedure" is going on, you can watch, generally this is only first things in the morning
Affection Section - petting zoo
Gi-Tar Dan - scheduled times, does improv guitar music with songs about guests who happen to be nearby
Character Meets - currently Rafiki and Chip and Dale
Habitat Habit- I think this is a very short trail with foliage and signage?
Wilderness Explorers - there are 6 bagdges to be earned in this part of the park
And of course - the train there and back

Thanks. I thought Wednesday was what I had read. We are going to go on a Friday and hopefully see something. As long as it doesn't involve spiders, all in the family will be interested!

Unless this is a new schedule, I would double-check with Disney. I was at Animal Kingdom on a Wednesday last year and was able to watch a veterinary check-up on a flying fox.
