We just returned from another great trip to WDW. We choose AK for Sunday March 5th. our first full day. The wait was 90 minutes at 10:20 am for EE. I thought Sunday was a good AK day but maybe not anymore with EE now open. We were able to get fast passes for around 1:00 pm and we returned and rode it then.

The rest of our week went well, except for MK on Thursday since it was Spectro day it was very crowded. We only did EMH on this morning since we knew it would only get worse as the day went on.

All and all we had a great trip and were able to mangage the crowds thanks to Tour Guide Mike and Disboards. We only waited 10 minutes or less for the rides at all the parks. We took advantage of fast pass, baby swap and getting to the parks early!

Time to plan another trip

we were in AK just a few days before you - on Wednesday the 1st ( I think!) We went immediately to EE and got FP. Our return time was only one hour later. Once we entered the FP line, we were on the ride in like 5 minutes. We FP the ride again and had another one hour wait time. All together I rode EE 3 times in aobut a 3 hour block of time!!! Crowds weren't too bad that day, I guess we lucked out. We're ready to go back too. Missing the magic.......

We were just there this past 3-6-06 and the wait was only about 20 mins. Awesome ride!

I waited for 120 minutes last year to ride Soarin. They were out of FP early. The only reason I waited so long is because we rode it the day before with FP and I loved it so much.

We went to AK on a Thursday and the wait for EE was 40 minutes Stand-By, Fast pass was for 1 hour from when we got there and single riders took 15 minutes. It was great. We got a Fast pass as soon as we got there, waited the actual line for the 40 minutes...rode the ride, got off went through single riders...rode the ride and then used the fast pass to ride again... So within an hour we were on it 3 times. Although that was the only reason we were at AK that day, this strategy worked out great for us :)

I rode EE twice in a row last Thursday with only a 5 minute wait (basically walk on) each time, but that's because I was there at opening and went straight there.

We go to the MK about 6 that day and didn't think it was too bad, we did a few things between 6 and 7 then hit Fantasyland at 7 when everyone was at the parade!! Now leaving the park was another story...it was a madhouse trying to leave!!!

We were there on EMH on Monday 3/6 and FIRST did the safari, had breakfast, and ended up by EE around 1, got a fast pass for 1:50, and got in the standby line waited only about 15 minutes, when we got off the CM asked if we wanted to ride again in the singles line, and we rode one more time in about 5 minutes.... then of course we came back at the fast pass time.

Sorry you had such a long wait, but I think AK will be much more popular now!!!!

So Everest has a single riders line???

That's awesome news for me! My wife and 5 year old have already decided to skip it in July. I'll take full advantage of the single riders line!

I'll ride it anyway I can, FP, Stand-By or Single Rider - whatever it takes to get me on that Mountain in a couple weeks..... It's pretty much the sole purpose for this trip. (That and some relief from a Western NY winter!)

It's so funny you say that because when I first rode it back on Feb 20th (presidents day) the stand-by line was 40 min so since the reason I was there was to ride EE, I decided to wait. It turned out to be an hour wait and while I was near the front, I heard the CM loading people on the train say "single rider please" ?? I didn't know there was a single rider line!! Well, you have to go to the CM Checking the FP tix and ask for a single rider ticket. That could have saved me atleast 30 min. Oh well, live and learn! I did enjoy the theming in the stand by que line so if the wait isn't too bad I do suggest you check it out!

I can just see it now - your wife telling a CM: "We saw him get into the single riders line and then we didn't see him for the rest of the day..." :lmao:

I wouldn't say the rest of the day, but maybe a good hour or so. I did it 8 times in a row in February, and I was done after that. It's a tough ride to take a few times in a row. But I still love it!

For those of you that have ridden EE, how is it? How does it compare to other Disney thrill rides? How fast, drops, scary, etc? Trying to decide if I should ride it when I go in May ...

It's much faster than Thunder Mountain, but not the entire ride. Has bigger drops than Space Mountain, but only a couple.

The toughest part of the ride is when it goes backwards. It goes as fast backwards as Rock N Roller Coaster goes forward.

It's an AWESOME ride - a little bit of everything rolled into a great, smooth ride with phenomenal special effects. Theming sets the mood for a thrill packed ride - DEFINITELY have to ride it a least once!!!! :tilt:

Ok, sounds like I can handle it.... although backwards as fast as RNR... :scared:

As long as there's no spinning, I should be ok!

I guess we just hit AK on a crowded day. I had "heard" Sunday was a good day for AK but I guess not anymore. Maybe the "locals' where there also. We only got to ride it once but maybe next trip we can ride it more! :)

Ooh, I like this strategy. I will be using it. I do want to see the queue once because I heard it has so much detail. I'm glad to know they have a single-rider line.

Hi there,

We were there on March 5 also. We chose that day to do AK since Sunday was supposed to be a good day for that park. It was packed ! We were at Disney from March 1 until March 10 and that day was the busiest park we saw all trip. I did hear several people say that the park was too full, they would leave and come back next weekend. I assumed that they were "local" AP holders who knew EE was in a soft opening and were coming out specifically to ride EE. Also, it was a beautiful day, not too hot or too cold and perfect blue skies - just a nice day to be outside and walk around. I would suggest others who are planning a trip to visit AK to visit on a recommended weekday instead of weekend day. Hope that helps!

P.S. EE was a lot of fun! We got a FP for around 12, made it to the loading deck and then it broke down! We were offered re-admission tickets for EE which we used around 2:30 that day and finally got to ride!
