I'm torn about where to go for lunch at AK. I was thinking Yak &Yeti until I saw the thread about Flame Tree. I'm not a huge rib person though. Hmmmm. Anyone been to both? What did you think?

Sorry I can't give opinions on both because I haven't been to Y&Y. However, we love FT BBQ. The outdoor seating is nice, and they have good options beyond the ribs that are different from the traditional CS.

I've been to both and definately prefer Flame Tree. We've never had anything bad there and love the outdoor seating area. ::MinnieMo

We prefer Flame Tree over Y&Y but we would eat at Y&Y again if we had to.

Having been to both I think I would go back to Yak n Yeti over Flame Tree. I really liked the fried rice and egg rolls at Yak n Yeti, and last time I ate at Flame Tree it was just eh.

We have always done FT, however last trip we decided to change things up and try Y&Y. We loved Y&Y! We also like FT, but would definitely do Y&Y from now on. It was actually one of the must do's on my daughter's list of things to do.

We've done both several times and they are both very good. AK has some of the best counter service in Disney, although we miss the old Tusker House CS restaurant!

I would choose Y&Y over Flame Tree just because I am not a real big barbecue fan. I have to be in the mood. My DH would choose the opposite because he loves BBQ any time.

Maybe a compromise would be to try them both - share a meal at each.

I've eaten at both, and although I'm not crazy about either (I"m a Pizzafari girl), of the two, I'd choose Flametree BBQ. The only time I ate at Yak and Yeti CS, I got up to throw something away, turned around to find a bird perched on top of my chicken, nibbling away. Yech! I've been to Flametree twice and haven't had that happen-yet.

Y/Y was disappointing...expensive for food quality and waitress wasn't "disney-like". Desert was great though. Would do the flame pit...a lot of great food. Just don't ride Mt. Everest after eating...

My BF and I both had tummy aches after Flame Tree, and the key lime pie I got was gritty and warm. we looooved yak and yeti, it was a ton of food and it was delicious.

I'd rather have this happen than the bird that swooped down on me in MK and yanked a peice of meat right off the the turkey leg I was gnawing on. :rotfl:

I've not tried Yak & Yeti, but might on my upcoming trip. Flametree BBQ is a MUST for us, though. (We're big meat-eaters... YUM!) But we do plan on doing two CS meals at AK and for the second one, I'm debating: Either Yak & Yeti, or Picnic in the Park. Hmmm, decisions decisions! :woohoo:

Everyone in the family enjoys FT, but I'd give Y&Y a try if it were just me :) I like the looks of the menu, and I also liked the Y&Y sit down meal we had last year.....no one else in the family did though :( so looks like FT for us again this year. I do enjoy their chicken though....nice big portions too.

We did Y&Y for TS and it was great.

For CS we did "Picnic in the park". Sandwich or Wrap, Chips, Cookie or Brownie, Bottled water. This was actually pretty cool. We ordered it. They bagged it all up in a really cool AK cloth/handled "Green" bag and off we went to our favorite spot to have lunch.

We were hungry so we found the closest spot -- it was near the area where the Gorillas hang out. The lunch must've been good b/c all of us finished all of our meals. Plus, it was a cool and unique experience.

Let me describe the Y&Y sweet and sour chicken dish. Take some rice and pour it into a chinese food take-out box. Put some chicken fingers on top of that. Throw some gloppy sweet and sour sauce on top of that and-enjoy?
It was edible, but hardly good eating!

For this answer you'll get six of one, half a dozen of the other!

I've eaten at both & perfer Y&Y. All I got from FT was a pile of greasy fat with BBQ sauce on it, and birds that attacked non-stop while I was trying to eat.

The birds are a problem at any outside seating area at WDW. Some people think it's "cute" to feed the birds ("Feed the birds, tuppance a bag...), but that creates the problem.

Flame Tree is where I have lunch at AK since Tusker House is no longer a CS restaurant.

On my last trip I split the chicken fried rice from Y&Y CS with my companion and I think we each got one small piece of chicken out of it. I wasn't impressed.

WE did Yak & Yeti TS and we LOVED it...not sure if cs is as good - but if its the same kitchen, etc. i'd say try it!

I have promised DH that we will try FT this time. In April my mom and brother wanted a TS resturant so we tried Y&Y. The food was ok, but my DH refused to eat anything because he wanted FT, and doesn't really like Chinese food.

So to appease him I told him next time we will eat there. (Of course he could have still eaten there that day and I even offerred to go get it for him but he was just being stubborn:confused3)
